Trading it in.
I am thinking about trading in my 2005 wrx, for a 2004 STI... any thoughts on that? i mean ya the sti is faster and better but personal thoughts on trading in a car that has 7k miles on it vs. up to 30k??? i dunno it sounds so good to have an sti.. maybe i am just dreaming..
A dream at best. While I don't know you, I'll bet your upside down quite a bit on your 05. That is to say you owe more than it's worth as a trade in. I've been trying to trade my VW in for a Subaru for 2 years and I'm still upside down on it. Only by about 1000, but still.
That aside, if you can, go for it.

Depends how much you put down. I put $10K down and at no point will I be upside down.

if your financially stable and your putting away at LEAST $500 a month toward saving then go for it.
Otherwise spend more money and make this car faster. ;D
My suggestions for go fast/handling mods:
17" rims and tires
bigger sway bars+endlinks
uppipe+TBE
brake kit
Cobb Accessport stage2
That should set you back about $3K, but thats better then throwing away like $5K and STill needing to fix your swaybars right?

but 2 of my favorite parts of the STI are missing.. 6spd and power ratio controller... now its a rwd now its a fwd now its a rwd now its awd. i love that.
plus besides the rear wing. i love the look.
and i am not upside down thank god, i payed 32 for it in july 2005 (shoulda just bought an 04 sti for 26g's at the time at a dealer near me) but i owe now, 25g's on it which i think a 2005 wrx with 7k miles on it, extended warranty with the short shifter and rear spoiler, is worth atleast 25gs if not really close to that. i think if i did this in like 2 months i could pay it down to where it could be an even trade for an 04 sti.. cause i pay 1000 a month on the car just to the principal.

you paid 32k for a WRX?! wow... and you think a used 05 WRX with 7k miles is worth more than a brand new one from the dealership?
I've got some tech stocks that I'll sell to you for $100/share.

damn dood, did you get your wrx from stevens creek or something?
I got my 04 wagon with 100K extended bumper to bumper warranty, and alarm for $27K.
That price includes car, warranty, tax, license & reg, and the $2K in finance charges.
=\

1. You payed 32k on a 05 WRX. I hope thats the OTD price, even then, you payed about 6k too much. So you got raped.
2. You still owe 25k on it? You won't get anywhere close to that on trade in or a private party sale.
You got raped buying your wrx and if you try to trade it in right now for a 04 STi or any other car for that matter you are going to get raped again. Seriously. Sorry to be so blunt.

it was 32 after finances and everything i took a loan out for 27.5 or something like that. so i guess i should not have included finance charges. i got the car for 26 even, then 2g's for the extended warranty then tax and finance charge came out to like 32 or 30 i might be guessing high i need to look at my paper work.
i am also about to drop 15g's on my wrx to help pay it off.. so i will be so far from upside down it wont matter at all..

If I were you I would go get a refund on the extended warranty. I believe that you cash it in if you have not used it.
