Trade car on loan for new

Hello all I've got a friend that has been trying to convince me to get a new wrx with him as subie buds.

Right now I currently have a 2013 Impreza on a loan and I was wondering if its possible to trade it in or maybe let someone inherit the car along with the loan?

Kelly blue book says the car with the mileage is worth about 18k if I was selling it so would it be possible to just pay it down to that amount then find someone to take over it with me being clear of everything and without ruining my credit or something.

I'm not sure what the dealer could do if two guys want to buy two new wrx's and trade in the old one.

I really wouldn't mind having a lot more power if it financially doesn't sound too bad. i know I will be losing some money doing this but how much

You could always go to the dealer and see what they would offer for it. They can roll any negative equity into the new loan.

I did this years ago when I bought a pick-up truck. Just be sure you get gap insurance to cover the value difference between the new car and the old car and the debt you inherited and rolled into the loan.

If the dealer is going to roll out two new cars of higher value they may cut you a huge deal on taking your NA imprezza in.

KBB at 18. they will probably offer you 13 but will give you as much as 15 possibly.

How much do you owe on it?

YAY this is my 2k post.

13-15K from the dealer sounds about right. You're always going to lose tons of money trading in your car at the dealer, especially a new(ish) car. I would rather have more money for mods than a newer car.

Advice from someone who has done this three times.....wait until you owe less than what its worth.....you dont want any negative rolled over into a new car. I did that with a truck I still owed on and it made my 2006 wrx limited 28k all said and done......not worth it.....
On top of the negative on the loan you end up paying taxes on that amount you are negative.....taxes on the same money you were already taxed on. Thats just nuts.

Deal with driving the car you dont want anymore until you can completely afford the car you do want.

Enjoy the good gas milage.....

Alright thanks for the input I figured the dealer wouldn't be the way to go.

also last night I remembered about insurance, it will be higher so that doesn't sound good at all which is the reason I got the NA in the first place

maybe one day until then I really like my NA especially compared to my old honda

Just depends what dealer and how much time you got. Back in the day after 2 months of my time Carlsen took my 04 wrx with 25k on for 19.8 when I owed 17.8 (payed 22.7 new at a diff dealer before tax/lic) and got a new sti for invoice.

The used car guy there wanted me to get an sti apparently, he gave me that price vs. other dealers best of 16! My roof had some snowboard damage too and he didn't want to see it.

Don't know how much time you have but in terms of a new car I suggest Larry @ Carlsen, or there is a route of calling Clint @ Heuberger motors in Colorado springs, shipping is about 500 bucks or you can pick up. They are an amazing dealer number one salesman and sales as a whole in the entire country.
