Toyo Proxes 4 vs Pirelli Nero m+s

Toyo Proxes 4 vs Pirelli Nero m+s
Im considering switching from my 235/40/17 so3's on my enkei rpf1s. i want to make these my cold season/winter wheels, but i dont want to settle for a tire that lacks confidence (i want to use these for road trips as well).
im contemplating the pirelli nero m+s and the toyo proxes 4 in the 245/40/17 size for the extra grip on wet and dry, NOT for snow traction. i figure i can run 245's in snow (i kno its not the best to have wide rubber in snow) and if im careful its still a whole lot better than last season when i ran falken fk451 a few times.
does anyone have a personal opinion as to whether the extra money is worth it to get the pirellis? also, if anyone has an opinion as to whether the marginal grip of a 245/40 vs a regular 225/45 tire will be worht the extra csah as well. thanks for the help.

I've never ran the Toyos, but I am on the Pirellis right now. If you're used to S-03s like what you have in the pictures, it's going to be a very different ride. I've switched from S-03s to Neros and for a daily driver, the change, IMHO, was good.
It gives a softer ride and they tell you when they're reaching their limit unlike S-03s. So, the PZeros do squeal a bit more, but they give me confidence whenever I'm driving on the road. If they stay somewhere around the price I got them for, I'm not even going to consider other tires for my suby as a daily driver.

if you are looking for the best in terms of wet/dry/snow traction, the pzero nero is the way to go, thats why they cost so much, lol

If you can afford them I'd say go with the Pirellis too, I've run the Toyo Proxy4's and wasn't all that impressed, they're decent enough, but not particularly excellent at anything.
On the other hand, I've heard nothing but positive reviews from people with the P-zero Nero's.

Another option you may want to consider is the Sumitomo HTR ZII:

They are not technically an M+S tire, but I have been blown away by the wet traction.

My official stance on the Pirelli PZero Neros M+S can be summed up by one nice word...... letdown. Now you are talking about daily driving, so my input may not be of much help, but now the limits are so rediculously low compared to stock. Be as a disclaimer, I am running -1.5 degrees of negative camber up in front. Also I cannot compare them to the Toyo Proxies 4, I've only driven Toyo T-1Rs and T-1Ss.
My impression:
I've taken the PZeroNeros to Thunderhill and all I hear all day and night is tires screaming for mercy. The other subaru guys running s03 leave me so quickly that I start swimming in my own tears. Driving these tires in the wet have been a scary experience for me as well. Sometimes when I drive at the speed limit and I have to make a turn, ie 90 degrees, the front completely let go and then they regrip suddenly.... not fun. Remember that isn't on stock suspension settings. Lastly when I go for a casual drive in the mountains... once again all I hear are tire squeals. Now it may be easy to point out that this can be attributed to my driving style, but when I jump into other people's cars immediately I have more confidence and NO tire complaints under the same exact conditions whether on the track or on street.
But in the end I probably didn't help squat. The PZeroNeros aren't bad, but they're not what I look for in tires, I'm part of the track ******... so I don't mind sacrificing comfort and road noise(which it does reduce). Im personally done buying these tires, I've never been disappointed with Bridgestones I'm going there for my next all season tires. For my dry traction tires I think I'm going to try the new RT-615s.

dude.....those are not track tires by any means what so ever. No way in hell would I run those as a track tire.
he's looking for daily driving, rain and snow use. RT-615's are not the tire to have in the snow.....
I am curious about the problems you've had though.... I have been in my buddies car moving pretty good with pzeros and they've handled pretty well...even with all the extra suspension goodies and the power. Shoot I followed him in my car with RE070's and he did just fine.
If you noticed I said I may not be of much help. I just gave my input. fair enough?
Oh there is one thing you won't like about these tires for daily driving. They tramline alot! My car is always following the grooves in the road. It's quite bothersome.

crazy....any worse than say a full performance summer tire??? I'm yet to find a performance tire that doesn't tram line at least a little. The RE070's aren't too bad but some of the other ones I've had are TERRIBLE.
What is your rear camber at?
The other tires I've driven don't tramline nearly as bad. I have Bridgestone RE950s on my other car and they don't the characteristics of these tires at all.
As due credit to everyone else, this may be due to my settings. I'm only one person's opinion, hardly a Formula 1 Ferrari engineer.
