Thats why I say lets do both..

I like the car shop drive as it helps in the publics eyes. But also its easy to leave a drop spot without someone taking the food/toys.... In front of a supermarket its hard to police that.

I think a toy drive is a better idea. although I have read much on the subject but even the canned food drives and the food pantry's and stuff are not having great luck. some are even having to turn people away allready and its not even christmas time yet.

maybe doing a central spot for a toy/can food drive is a good idea. that way if people can do one or the other the have a central spot to go. plus you got to advertise it. let people know where at what you are going to be doing. i think this takes a great deal of effort.

im not saying it wouldnt be worth it but you gotta organize on a grand scale to have something become great.

I'm scheduled for an appt with Speed Element this Friday. If they agree to it before then, I'd be happy to bring some stuff by. By the way, what kinds of can foods are good for these kinds of drives? I was thinking stuff to make Green Bean Casserole with, i.e. green beans, cream of mushroom, and those crunchy onion strings. Any other ideas? Canned corn? peas?

This is from The Second Harvest website:
"Donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome. Most needed items are: meals in a can (stew, chili, soup), tuna/canned meat, peanut butter, canned foods with pop-top lids, low sugar cereals, 100% fruit juices in single serving boxes, canned fruit packed in its own juice, and low salt canned vegetables. Please do not donate items packaged in glass or bulk quantities of rice, flour, or sugar."

I plan on getting footballs, basketballs, baseballs and mits.

Kids need something better than an overpriced $10 action figure.
