Total n00b move (took my RS to Carlsen today)
So, I took my car into the dealership to get some kind of noise (making a wah wah wah sound) inspected that happens between 20-40mph. Road tested with one of the mechanics. I was told it's likely a wheel bearing issue and they'll have to take a better look at it. $1,100 to replace both wheel bearings according to the phone call. I had to say "yes" since my car was already there and I figured might as well instead of waiting and driving around for price quotes. It was already at the point of no return for me. Then I came home to do a bit of research on I-Club. Yup, my conservative dumb self just cost me well over twice the amount I would have paid elsewhere. On top of that, if I had known better, I shoulda just given them just the $125 for diagnosing the problem, peace out, and I coulda taken a short trip to AHQ or something to get it fixed cheaper. Not like I had a whole lotta money to burn anyway, but I need my car to get to work and run errands. Plus, it's a 2000, meaning, hey buddy, warranty's over, dealership might not be the most cost effective choice here. Live and learn. On the bright side, I'm getting my car back tomorrow. Also, coulda been worse. This thread could have been titled "took my car to Stevens Creek". At least I wasn't THAT much of a noob. *sigh* -_-
Carlsen's cool folks, but man it's hurtin' my pockets right now.

That just about sums up my day. I'm pretty sure LIC will see my car at their shop in the near future for another issue Carlsen found today, which comes in a small oil leak. FUN!

Wheel bearing should only cost around $300 per axle with labor. That includes bearing and hub. $1100 for both is WAY too much. Don't Cali have tons of Suby shops?
damn, subaru bearing cost that much? My jeep, granted a solid axle, the axel and the bearing with a coolant change cost me $250, of course not at the stealership
