You sure about that? In season 2 episode 6 they do a review of the '04 STI versus the EVO VIII and both him and Richard Hammond state several times that they both prefer the "Impreza" over the EVO.

much like ANY car they have on there. there really is no way for the people watching to actually have a clear understanding if they are driving the cars the same or not. IMO it sounds like EVO threw him a huge lump of cash and said "you better not **** up our car design this time jer.k"
and then BAMM what you and I see is the tripe about mistubishi designing something better then a forklift...
i dont buy it, i have seen EVERY top gear, ever made i would wager and after a while you notice how easy it is to manip tests.

I distinctly remember Clarkson reviewing a previous generation of evos and stis and saying that the cars are pretty much equal but for some reason he liked the sti better.

My impression of the review was that they felt the Evo had the better precision in handling, but the STi still lapped faster than the regular Evo.
Personally, I prefer the old STi over the old Evo, but I think the new Evo looks better than the new STi.
