TopGear rates Evo X > STI
I'd never own an 08 MS3...errr, STi. Too damn ugly and those X's are proving to be just as good as the IX and lower in terms of power per mod.
If I total my STi tomorrow I'd be getting a Evo X or a BMW.

I'm not a big fan of the 08 body style, the STi looks MUCH, MUCH nicer then the WRX and 2.5i though.
Jeremy Clarkson has always liked EVO's better and he's bias towards it, much like he is towards many other cars so his review = his opinion.

I remember there was some car review on edmunds or some other car site that reviewed the 08 sti, evo x and VW r32 and rated the sti the worst because it was the most "expensive" when in fact had all the premium packages (wheels, sat nav)...
I usually agree with Jeremy's opinons, but when I saw this, I thought it was a bit bias and was looking for things to criticize... I remember when he reviewed the 04/05 sti, I recall him saying that he liked the interior and sound better, but in this review he hates the sound
... And he also fails to point out that nearly all mitsubishi's have crappy interior, with the evo x included

he and hammond both said they'd rather have an sti than an evo in the previous generation.
For those wondering,
Tracktimes were
STi 1:28.2
EVO 1:28.22
The EVO is using that SST (automagic transmission) It is a known fact the GSR 5spd is faster in accelerating.
Both get demolished compared to the EVO VIII 1:26.22, the STi WR1 of the same year was 1:29.4
They never tested a IX which was too bad.
This vid is old too btw.
Correct me if my history is incorrect, but I still like the EJ20 with its closed deck iron block and forged piston (to be similar to what the 4g63 has always had--don't know about the 4b11). with the 04-05 bodystyle, that would be my favorite. now we get these 2.5L semi-open deck alum. block and cast pistons and questionable looks. bahh, it did help in marketing though boasting a much higher hp rating and displacement compared to the Mitsus heh, you just hope they don't start comparing with mods when it comes to power

both cars are always close though, and the choice by consumers always seem to be biased, or based on which review they read which favored the other (and many go either way). Having the rivalry is always nice to keep the history going..
