Seriously Kevin, as much of a subaru fan boy that you are, i wouldve sold it as quick as possible and started with a nice project car/dd that was a stick.

Tires and mirror were not part of my "mods", but if you wanan count it then it's 550 for tires and 130 for mirror. But if you're gonna count things like this, you better count insurance, gas, and maintenance also.

Cars are not cheap, probably the most expensive hobby you can get into.
I spend about $100/mo for car insurance. Even though I am still dependent on my parents, my parents expect to pay that on my own. On weeks where I have to drive between Davis and Fremont, that's about $40 in gas. I run about quarter tank - 1/3 of tank per a direction.

Zoeb is right. Even if it was a MT, I would have spent equally as much. I think the only difference I'll encounter is the problem with a swap. Will need to spend a little more to have it converted to an MT.

According to my Excel document, the big items that I spent on were:

Wheels and Tires plus mounting and balancing
Alarm system
Exhaust and fitting

and a bunch of misc stuff.

$500/mo car payment
$150/mo insurance
$200/mo gas
$60/mo maintanence
$200/mo average spending on mods
with those conservative numbers it only costs us $1100 to drive our cars
oh and chances are you are negative equity on your payments...

Kev (darkonion), forget about the cost. You never forget your first car and for the rest of your life you will remember it. Your doing the right thing and within a short while you'll be able to spank all the haters with less diffs and less horsepower if you keep up the driver training and incremental mods.

A sweet balance and setup combined with good skills is a great equaliser (i.e. a certain RS beating WRX's at AutoX week in week out). Maybe one day your L will have a 400Whp STi motor and full race suspension...then we'll see who's laughing.

We've all wasted money on mods that we will never see again..it's called being a car enthusiast...I say keep going.

Thanks Glen.

I'll see you on grid bright and early Sunday. Going to try some new things that I learned at Auto-X school.

I heard Kyle was hauling *** out there. Too bad he didn't get placed as high as he would like because of a small technicality.
