to top it all off... the cop that pulled me over knew all about the WRX... He was telling me that "it's easy to go fast in the car and not know it"
Maybe I should de-badge the whole thing
oh... and, no, i don't drive like an ***.... although I drive a LOT

i dont think it has anything to do with driving style. i have owned my car since march 2001 and never was hassled until this past month. in the past month i have been hassled 2 times. considering i have only driven my car like 5 times thats sorta a high amount. and both times they started following me while i was either stopped at a light or very slow driving.. ~20-30 mph on city streets. my car does stand out a little. but i think it has more to do with location. the 1st time i got pulled over in SF. the second time i didnt get pulled over.. but the cop definately followed me for 4-5 blocks and proly ran my plates in sunnyvale. it seems like SF and the south bay are more ****. where I live in contra costa county.. cops NEVER hassle me.. or even look at my ride. of course.. street racing isnt a problem where I live.. that could have something to do with it.

I drive a 04 WRX STi in Aspen White...
Now my 04 STi has:
No spoiler
Down Pipe w/ both cats deleted on stock cat back
GFB 50/50 Hybrid
Silver BBS RIMS
04 Black WRX Fog Lamps
Tint on only the rear 3 windows
Front Plate is always on
For some reason, I don't get pulled over ever since I got rid of the side tints and rear spoiler. When I had the side tints & rear spoiler I was all stock and got pulled over all the time. It just might be a luck thing.
Signed,
Charlie

Where in C.C.C do u live? Yea street racing been down around here since they cracked down on Port Costa, Marsh Creek, Concord (Tower Records), and races in general, but we still got a more active street racing scene out here than in SF. THe sideshows out here in Bay Point all the way to Antioch can get crazy so watch out for them!

planetasia925: i live in Orinda.. theres only 1 main road here.. and its only 1 lane each direction.. so you'd haveta be crazy to race. also.. even IF i wanted to race.. i would get schooled cause everyone has porsches, m3's, and z8's here.. oh, and those Bentley Coupes.
I dont get hassled over in concord or pittsburg area either. i still think its the area you are driving in. anywhere in contra costa county.. i can drive with my apexi gtspec exhaust roaring into cops faces and they wont bother me. but if i go anywhere in the south bay.. i haveta keep it under 2000 rpm at all times! and i still get followed.

Stealth = stock rims with some painted on rust spots with good wider tires, if you get 17inch rims paint them dull silver, maybe with some painted rust spots (cry), upgrade the suspension but paint the parts with black rustoleum, upgrade brakes, paint the new caps dull silver (cry - goodby gold bremmos), a wagon, a kid seat, extra gauges and nitros hidden under the armrest or elsewhere, radar detector hidden, paint exhaust with black paint (cry-goodby stainless shine), make sure all of your lights work all of the time, no window tint, no personalized plate, A MADD ribbon tied to the mirror or antenna, no bumber stickers, remove WRX logos, no decals unless it says "Stop Child Abuse".
Don't lane weave, don't cut off people (especially truckers) that have CB's and cell phones preprogramed to 911 and will call the cops on you, allways be second fastest, not first.
When you get puled over be very nice and to any question such as "do you know why I pulled you over?" always say, "Oh, I was just not paying attention and was following that car infront of me. I must have done something wrong!" Never say, "Oh I'll bet it was because of that (light, speed, pass) back there." If an officer has an admission of guilt on the video recording system reviewed by supervisors it may be hard for him or her not to write a ticket even if they personally would rather not.
Look like a soccer dad/mom that has not a clue what is under the hood. Wear dorky sunglasses. Get tee-shirts from the local law enforcement and county attorneys associations and wear them instead of a t shirt that says BAD AZZ FAST. Don't wear a baseball hat backwards! Have a decal for an oil change in the window from J-Lube.
Hope these help. Ps I'd love to start a best time/distance thread, but I'm not going to post an admission of guilt.
