I gotta 07wrx lowered on swift springs on stock rims (17 x 7.5) i believe? and stock tires. 215/45/17s i think? Bolt pattern i know to be 5x100 of course. Stock struts as well.
So I just picked up a set of 225/45/17s Azenis RT-615's and went to firestone to get them mounted but they said that i will have rubbing issues... but they arent certain. I got them mounted and i drove around without any big issues, but im scared that they will rub if i do big turns, hit bumps/potholes while turning, etc. So i put the stock wheels back on.
I was wondering what i should do? Should i just remount and keep them mounted? Does anyone know if they will rub for sure or should i pick up some in 215/45/17's?? What size tires would fit the stockers without rubbing and which type of tires should i get for a DD? I was thinking of the Potenza RE760s, or the RT-615s * the reason y i got them in the first place* haha.
Also only 17x7.5 rims fit the 06-07 wrx right? Wut about the offsets?
Sorry...horrible wheel/tire newb. feel free to
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!! i really need some help on this one. =/

You should be fine if you are on a Swift setup and stock wheels. It should clear it fine driving on the streets even with the 225's since you have a wrx. It would be more of a problem if you had a wagon or an old school gc. Did you ever get an alignment done after putting the springs on? If so, what was your setup? 06-07 wrx's can fit a variety of wheels including 16's from the old school gc's since they clear 4pots.
If you don't notice any rubbing issues already then what is the problem?

I may be wrong but the 06 WRX stock rims are 17X7s not 7.5
Too bad about the Azenis - that's my fav tire =) and i used to run 17X7.5s with Azenis RT 615s 225/35/17s with no issue on those..... dunno, i also had coilovers on my car so i don't see why there is an issue?
BTW the body frame is similar to the STI and they run larger rims with no rubbing issues.... dunno, i think you'll be fine with the tires, maybe upgrade the rims to 17X8s to handle the tire tho

Well its the fact that i dont want it to destroy my rear panels if i go over a bump or some fatty potholes while im turning. Would there be an advantage going wider?
Oh, i see...17x7s not 17x7.5s. Lets say i upgrade to 17x7.5s, what kind of tires would i be able to run on those rims...without rubbing of course.
Thanks for your responses, tat helped alot.

i thought stock wrx's have 17x7.5 and our sti's are 17x8..
but still why would it rub if it is supposed to be 17x7 and you went to 17x7.5? look at the peeps who are doing 17x8's on their wrx's.

Anyone with stock rims and 225/45s on swift springs know for a fact they wont rub? thanks

I have seen wagons with that set-up. Your fine.
The only difference will be that you have a slightly higher final gear ratio. Less revs/mile.
