Won't the exact same tire shaved down to match the tread of others have the same diameter, given that the others don't have any abnormal wear?

I remember when I needed one tire they matched either the average diameter or circumference of the other tires not just the tread depth. It was a while ago so I do not remember what measurement they matched.

I believe it has to be within 2/32-inch of eachother and the tires already have about 12k miles on them.
Man I destroyed my RE070's in under 8000 miles. And I mean DESTROYED. Showing cords.

I have an RE in my shed but I think it's probably dry. Otherwise I'd give it to you because I think it's the perfect depth.

In any case I'm loving these tires and feel they're excellent for my daily commute through the mountains in any weather. Just wanted to give you more realistic expectations on your new tires.
That's sad if that's true because the RE070 is GARBAGE in weather. When they're brand new they do all right in rain but after about 75% they're garbage. And I don't know very many people that are dumb enough to drive in the snow on them but I can tell you first hand it's GNARLY!

But dry grip... I don't' know if I've had a better street tire on my car.

Are you mixing up the RE070 with the 970? Thats the tire SimpleSpec is referring to.

Jodice thanks for the info that Tirerack will shave tires. Good info to have.
