Yeah they're more expensive than the RE-11 which has more grip, longer tread life and has a better looking tread pattern

When I was in marina I drove for about 30 miles on hi 1 with zero psi in a rear tire. I guess the re70's were so stiff on the sidewall it wasn't a problem, It just felt rough.

how are the re11 compared to re01r? I hated the 01r

I have the Re11s and they have MAJOR grip have only made them break loose twice and it took a whole lot to get them to break loose. I got a screw in one and it has a slow leak. they said they could possibly patch and repair but I'm getting low on the wear so new tires on on order. After pricing a set of new Re11's and being reminded i need to get some all seasons I'll Picking up some RE970AS Pole Position tires, they are supposed to have dry grip close to that of the RE11s, awesome grip in the rain and can also handle snow duty too. Win Win Win if they are anything like the RE11s.

Have tire rack ship straight to custom alignment in mountain view and have them shave it.

Custom Alignment Balance and Brakes | Mountain View, CA

I forget how much it was to get a tire shaved but it was a metric ish ton cheaper than four new ones. They got mine within 1/32 of the other tires.

My coworker has plugged a tire worse than that...working in the ghetto you get some pretty rediculous requests

Where did you hear about the dry grip being close to RE11s? I'm running the 970s right now and they've been fantastic, but I seriously doubt the dry grip is anywhere near the level of tires in that caliber. One review I read from from a guy coming from the older 960s felt that Bridgestone gave up a little dry grip on the 970s in order to improve performance in bad weather. In any case I'm loving these tires and feel they're excellent for my daily commute through the mountains in any weather. Just wanted to give you more realistic expectations on your new tires.

Tire Rack actually does they're own tire shaving so I just went and measured the remaining tread and I'm gonna place in an order tomorrow.

I have done this a few times and always had great results. TireRack is the best. The only other place I have had tires shaved was a tire shop at Infineon but they won't touch a tire that has touched the ground, so keep that in mind. Was pretty cool to watch the tire shaving machine work though!

I believe tire rack matches tread depth. What you want matched is diameter as that is what is going to burn up the diffs. Correct me if I am wrong.

I read it on tire racks Testing of the top All season tires. I know and im not going to expect the dry summer grip that my RE11s have to be the same on the 970s but close would be nice. loosing some dry grip to gain snow grip that i never had is a trade off im ok with since i can use my re11s in the summer when i want.
