Tips for track day at Laguna Seca?

Contrary to its aura, Laguna Seca is a fairly boring track. It's much easier than Infineon and even Thunderhill. It's a great track to learn on because it's all pretty simple (as far as tracks go). Nearly all the braking can be easily done in a straight line (except going into the corkscrew is a little tricky) and most of the turns are simple mid to late apex turns. The sound booth is on the uphill after turn 6 so watch out for that sound lady (92 db!). I'm trying to think if there are any really tricky parts but the only one I can think of has already been discussed; turn 9. The bridge was just recently moved and the runoff area was extended so don't turn at the bridge anymore!!!
By the way, I have a Turbo XS cat back on my car and I was barely under the sound limit on a cloudy day (more atmospheric reflection)...

My problem area at Laguna was turn 10 and 11. For some reason I would be carrying too much speed out of 9 and either occasionally overcook the brakes or hit it a little too hot and drift white knuckle style through the turn, which makes 11 harder (or the setup anyway). This only happened twice, but worth mentioning. I have heard 11 is a "40mph turn" no matter what car your drive.. Haha. But most of my experience is at Thill and then Sears so these thoughts could change.

btw, the sound booth at laguna is on turn 5. if you track all the way as you are supposed to (to the right hand side) the sound booth sits right there. so if you're scared of your car not passing: get a pipe that faces left, throw away turn 5 by holding it tight and exiting in the middle, or bring a silencer. you'll get three warnings before you're day's done.

i have a hks carbon/ti and somedays seem to be ok, and some days i've "violated" the sound limit.
Some turn by turn tutorials:

These are a little old, but the general mechanics of the turns should still be the same. Best of luck, have fun, and don't be afraid to take it easy the first few sessions.
