Tint ticket....what to do now?

Well, since Sac PD Motor cops have nothign better to do than pull over a non-ricer HON.....I mean Subaru (yes, the cop started to write HON, then scratched it out and wrote Subaru) for having the front windows tinted.

Main question is should I go out and buy the driver/pass door glass and swap it out (I have no clue how much that would cost, even to swap it myself).

OR

Is there anyone in the Sac area w/o front tint who drives a "02 Impreza 4-door" (what looks like green) who would be willing to swap plates to get the ticket signed off?

I swear, this cop had nothign better to do, and was obviously new to the area because he didnt even know whether the street I was on hooked up to Fair Oaks.

I would either take off the tint, get it signed off and retint or just pay the $75 fine.

not sure how much the glass would cost. and swapping plates is not worth it. think about what if they check the vin. then you and the person who agreed to swap with you are in big trouble.

The best solution is to have the film removed so that a ticket won't ever be an issue again.

I know it sucks to have spent money on nice tint, especially because it looks nice and serves a practical purpose in the Sac area but who needs the hassle? I have rear tint only, too dark IMO, but it's permissible under the law. I never get pulled over or even a second glance from law enforcement so this is worth it to me.

Window tint tickes are a MANDATORY FIX.....I just got pulled over/ticketed for that on my b-day in November, then 4 days later, I got pulled over AGAIN for the exact same thing.....so I told the cop that pulled me over the second time that I already got that ticket a few days earlier, and he said ok, and he would not give me another ticket since it would just cancel the other one out.....

so I asked him about the fine w/o the fix.....and he said, NO, there isn't just a fine..... you have to get it fixed. Then he went on to say that SOME fixit tix you CAN pay the fine and have it cleared...but Window tint is not one of those, that it is a mandatory fix. I am currently still waiting to get the Ticket in the mail so I can have it signed off.

Good luck

I don't like the existing tint law. I think the law could be modified so that people could still have some sort of tint on the front windows, but until someone or some industry like the window film manufacturers can successfully lobby for a change in the law, driving with no front tint is the only surefire, guaranteed, no-question-about-it way I know to avoid getting cited.

I doubt they would successfully lobby for it because it's a state law supported heavily by law enforcement. I agree that the law sucks but it won't surprise me if it never changes

mandatory fix? hmmm... maybe the law changed in the last couple of years.

I call BS on the pig telling you that it's a mandatory fine. But do post back when you get the ticket.

agreed. the tint industry isn't that big to change such law. plus the law is there to protect cops so no way is this gonna change.

Nope....Mine was at 2:40 when I was trying to get to my final at Sac State.

Well...heres the thing...i know plate swapping USED to be very popular, and since the VIN isnt on the ticket, I assumed it would be very easy. Also, its either 70$ to get the tint put back on (along with taking it off...which is a PITA) or spending 100$ or so on the side window glass. Personally, I would be FINE with keeping it off for the winter, but during the summer there is no way in hell I can live with having a black car with no front tint.

ALSO (just reminded of this). When I was 2 years old I had to get a perscription for sunglasses because I had light sensitive eyes. Since then I have ALWAYS worn a pair of sunglasses outside during the day. My mom im sure can still find the perscription, and I might be able to get around it (or at least prevent it from another cop).

I mean, my tint is only 35%, in front (15% in rear) so you CAN still see in even at night (if I turn on the dome light)...so its not like im driving around with limo tint all around.

but you have to remember why the tint laws are there in the first place.

ask any cop.

they will tell you that traffic stops are very nervous enough when you can see the people inside the car. change it so they CANT see inside the car...

so look at it the cop's point of view....

now if you have a legit medical reason to get tints, then by all means, provide that as a reason...
