I have a couple of Punjabi friends. One of them owns a liquor store and he's buzzed/drunk pretty much every time we hang out. Even if it's like 11am in the morning. But as much as he drinks, dude is a pretty hard worker. My other Punjabi buddy is pretty much the same way. Except he can't be drunk at work since he's a doctor.

But yeah those Punjabis know how to party.

That we do.

But there are many MANY of these younger dudes who don't work, spend their parents money cause the parents are loaded back home (own crazy amounts of land and real estate there puts our boom to shame.)

I know that this is not how all Punjabi guys are like, but many are. And getting drunk isn't really the problem, it's the culture and the horrible parenting. Like Indo said, dude gets out of jail and finds a new car. Things like that happen so often.

Dude gets kicked out of school/drops out of college - parents buy him a liquor store or gas station.
Dude gets into drugs, parents will give him anything to keep him happy thinking it will get him to slow the addiction.

They care too much about the families name, the family's reputation.

If a girl is caught being on a date with some dude she could quite possibly be killed, and I **** you not. Sometimes, rare, but sometimes the family will wait until a vacation trip back to punjab where they kill off the girl. Girls are looked at as a liability, and boys are completely praised.

I ****ing hate those two, not because they are ****ing morons, but because of what they represent. The dirty truth about punjabi culture and how it spoils it's sons.

Also, Punjabi culture and Sikhism are at complete odds. They are so damn polar. Sikhism makes an honest attempt at a religion that wants you to abstain from so much temptation and also be real honest to ones self, and truly pushes equality amongst sexes...(well, kinda... separate but equal...) Punjabi culture is all about the drink, the fun, the girls, the money, the fame... it's like a rap video. Punjabi culture is JUST like a rap video, and with rap culture being so big, it's just accelerating punjabi culture into the future.

Here is one example:

vs the following rap video

put the two together ( he says at one point "I ****ed your sister":

vs what my dad listens to (Hans Raj Hans was his favorite singer):

So yeah, big difference. And it's only going to worse.
