Thunderhill Today
As always, Thunderhill was a blast today. This was my second event with
golden gate lotus club and I have to say they put on great events. It was
hot but not as hot as I thought it was going to be.
The car performed wonderfully. All the little tweaks I have been doing to it
the last couple months payed off. No brake problems this time. The stoptechs
performed flawlessly with no brake fade whatsoever even in the heat. I was
running Carbotech Panther Plus pads all-around. The brakes felt the exact
same, every session, all day long, no matter how much I abused them. I
easily could out-brake all the cars in my run group. The car had no heat
problems. The new 2nd pair of Azenis I bought worked great. The first heat
cycle in these are always good but I really didn't expect them to do well in
the heat but they where fine, little less traction after lunch in the heat
but at $460 for all four I can't complain.
I also ran 100 octane for the first time with the WRX. Wow. It easily gave
me at least 20-30whp. (I've been having timing issues with 91 octane on
the stage 2 map) I also ran the highest octane map the cobb accessport
had which was only a 93 octane map. I was blown away at how good the car
reacted to the higher octane. Where with 91 the ecu just pulls timing like
its going out of style, with 100 it felt like I did a turbo upgrade, loads
of timing and 1 or 2 more psi of boost. Let's just say all the evo guys
there where amazed that all I had was a turbo-back exhaust and ecu upgrade
since I was pulling on them pretty hard in the straights. (most of the evo's
where stock or just minor mods like exhaust or reflashes)
Here are some shots gotbluemilk.com took today. They came out pretty good:

Wow, amazing photos! Damn, amazing photos!
I see some Mini Coopers in one of the photos... I was looking into one before the WRX, Im sure I made the right decision, but I was wondering how they did compared to your WRX? Im guessing there the Cooper S model.

Dont know if you have seen the thread for the potential Suby track day at T-Hill in October, post if you think you want to make it out.
