Got a question, and keep in mind that I've never auto-x'd or tracked before, but why do people have their windows down? Is it because it gets hot in the car?

Not sure about the track guys, but when I auto-x, the reasons why I leave it down is so I can hear announcements right at the start line just in case there's something important, heat, and also I'm more comfortable "hearing" the outside than just the sound of the car. Hope that made sense.

you leave the windows down to signal to the people behind you to pass. It also allows the rescue grew to pull you out quickly if you crash and are unconscious. Also, you don't hav shettered glass hit you in the face if you crash.

Don't forget its also mandatory to have your windows down, so we all must do it even if we don't know why

I think the #1 reason for windows down is due to the potential of broken glass in an accident. #2 and equally important in the novice groups is signaling a pass.

My only trackday had the potential for rain. Someone asked from the get-go if they could leave their windows up and the answer was "if its to wet to have your window down stay off the track".

My coworker Florian (tall German) was instructing someone. He drives a black '96 M3. He's a great guy.
