Thumbs up to ED at EQtuning!!!
Had my car tuned recently with EQ, and Ed pulled out some good numbers on my car, 298whp and 318tq! Im totally happy with my numbers. I gaurantee that if you get your car tuned by this guy, you'll be suprised with his work and your cheeks will start hurting from smiling too much. HAHA... Mine did! Worth coming back for a good tune in the future.
Thanks again Ed,
jason

Jason, thanks for the review. Let me clear some things up here...
This is an 05 STI with a catless Helix downpipe, 2.5" Stromung catback, and Gruppe-S headers coated by Crucial. This car came in running very well on the Cobb stage 2 map. It actually made such impressive numbers on Cobb's map that I warned the customer that I may not be able to get any significant gains with tuning. We decided to go ahead with the tune to see what more could be done. After a couple of hours, I was able to get some good gains throughout the power band and especially so on the top end and the overall drivability of the car was greatly improved as well. The final results surprised me a bit as this car made about 10whp and 20ft-lbs more than any other stock turbo STI I've tuned. I had never tuned a stock turbo STI with headers before, but I didn't expect the gains would be so pronounced. The car felt great overall and pulled very hard through all gears. Full boost was achieved at just under 3000RPM in 4th gear. This is a little bit laggier than the stock headers, but not enough to counter act the gains.
Here is the plot comparing the cobb stage 2 map (red) to the custom tuned map (blue). These were done in 60-65 degree weather.

A couple days later the customer came back to do a couple pulls at night (about 40F). Here's the graph (note: no tuning was done at night, just some test pulls):

This one really surprised me... I've NEVER seen a stock turbo STI approach these kind of numbers in ANY weather. We did some pulls through the gears and this thing really felt special. So either this car is extremely "gifted" or the headers are to thank for the impressive power.
BTW, here's an overlay of the night plot on top of the the day plot for those of you who like that sort of thing
:

Thanks

Thanks for compliments. I'll be doing some testing with P&P and coated stock headers soon to compare with the various aftermarket headers. The goal is to get similar gains while retaining the sound, spoolup, and heat retention of the stock headers. Should be interesting
