I tighten and loosen the release valve every time I use the jack as that's the only way to use it. I think the problem came in raising the jack up to its limit. Now the hydraulic fluid leaks out a tiny bit from the pump part that you attach the handle too.
If anyone knows how to fix these jacks, want one for free?

I just upgraded from one of those $20 pieces of junk (served me well for 7 years but took twice as long to jack up a car due to required 50 pumps) to the Sears 1.5 ton aluminum racing jack for $119. I only work on imports and couldn't justify the extra $80 for 2 ton lifting capacity on the jack that dahveed mentions above.

I checked out the Harbor Freight units in person at their Hayward store. Not only did they look cheaper, but the employees refused to give me the $79 Internet price since I did not print it out and bring it in (no mention that you need to do this). They were going to charge me $99 unless I bought some scammy extended warranty for $40. I felt like I was buying a used car and I don't do business that way.

I ordered the Sears unit online so that they reserved the unit in stock and went to pick it up the same day. I have only used it once, but it is one sweet jack that I highly recommend for anyone who works on their cars regularly.

oooooooooooooooohhh I want one. Plus, it's craftsman, so if anything happens you just take it back and they give you another...

I just did that with a shovel this weekend. Never thought I'd break a craftsman shovel...

This is the only Sears jack worth buying, other than their super heavy-duty shop lifts:

That's the one I have. Definately worth the money:

You don't need to do that. There is a jack point in the middle of the car. Not hard to find.
