ok well are you willing to stand up for it?

We would need to file a complaint with the state. But you need to follow it thru.

I'm always willing to stand up for what I believe in. It's gonna take more than the two of us, though.

Well two is a start. And when many more voters stand up. We get better results. You can't fight that you broke the law. You fight what gives them the right to stop you if your doing nothing wrong. Its not outlined in the states books for laws to what can and who can. So they do what they want. That's where you seek change. In the mean time we need to police our own allot better to help protect ourselfs from it getting worse.

Glad to see something coming of this. I'm game too.

It would be good to cross post this on Evo boards, other Subaru forums, Lotus clubs, VWVortex, etc. Get some numbers on our side.

Well, just a quick update.

The car was smogged and passed. Coincidentally, I got my 'bail' notice on the same day.

For Alameda Co. Court: $748 without correction $624 with correction.

Lesson learned? A: be stealthier with mods and B: pray CA falls into the Pacific sooner than later.

Are you saying that you have to pay $624 even though you passed??

I have 3 options:

1: No correction and mail $7xx
2: Proof of correction for the only "correctable offense" which was a front plate and mail $6xx
3: Go to traffic court.

OK, so when you go to traffic court with proof that the car passed smog and that you have a front plate installed, the judge should dismiss everything.

In theory, I'll update again when I calm down to the point I can stand there and mask my contempt for this god damned state.

My plan B is to argue I'm a student, showed good faith in correcting all problems and ask for a fine reduction.

Did you do all the work to remove parts and such? Pass with an EGT gauge installed? I was told no EGT because you have to modify your pre-cat exhaust to do this.

Also - you have to pay $624 for a no front plate citation? Did I read that right???

Was going to offer my driveway for work as I am about to do a similar thing plus a clutch job, but I see you got it all sorted. Nice!
