Wow, that is a great deal. Is that for a new or used EVO/base model? How long are you planing to keep evo. If only <5 years, I think it should be ok. If more than 5 years, I'll look some place else. But that's my opinon only.

Personaly, only car I would trade my bugeye will be for STI spec C RA-R. Please, subaru bring it.

Knowing myself Id prolly keep it for 5-6 years then sell it sore something new =) I tend to get tired of my rides often.

Dont know how long its going on for I think you should be safe with that price till the end of april.

If you like the car and can get a good deal, go for it. Also, the 4B11T seems to respond well to mods: http://evoempire.org/Evo-10-Gst-Moto...unes-t384.html.

I don't know how long 'longevity' is, but Subarus aren't exactly brilliant. In my car's first 100k, I've had:

window lift fail - destroying its mounts in the process,
trunk release fail,
A/C fail twice,
head gasket fail,
recall for seat mounts,
recall for abs
recall for cruise control
paint etches if a bird even looks like pooping on it,
and it pisses fuel over the engine if the temperature drops below 50 degrees.

I love the car, but I don't think Subaru's build quality is up to much.

i drove Subaru for 8 years 3 different suby... then I test drove the 08 STi and Evo X back and forth... Modded vs stock and spoke with couple of 08 STi and EvoX owners, I went with EvoX. Car for car, I like the handling, power, and look of the X over the 08 STi. However, I like the STi has 6SPD and lot more cargo space. Then again, the cargo space is not that big of a deal any more one I've gotten used to it. And if some of you recall, I had a crappy suby shopping experience.

But if you ask me today, if I get to pick again and with all the discount/deals/packages available on both cars, I still pick the X.

The Evos are nice, but the new ones (the X?) are heavy (3500 lbs) and use the same platform as the Dodge Caliber. At least that's what I read in the magazines.

I got to ride in an Evo X (the one with the real tranny, not that silly dual-clutch thing) last month at an autox school where I was instructing. It was my student's car.

The car itself was nice enough. Seats were pretty neat, but designed for people bigger than either of us (I'm 5'8, 160#). It pulled harder in 2nd gear than my 08 WRX Stage 2... he had a catback exhaust and a tune. I didn't get to drive it so I can't comment on that. I didn't care for the interior design at all.

Honestly... I wouldn't get one. I would rather find a deal on a new STI. The car is soooo much nicer looking (IMO). I know Mitsu's motors are decently reliable, I just prefer Subaru.

Heck, back in the DSM days, I LOVED the Eagle Talon. The 90-91 was one of the nicest looking cars ever made. Never was able to get one.

if you are going to upgrade your next vehicle to like 600 hp/tq go with the evo, because they do have strong engines. Subaru's aluminum engines tend to blow at that point.
