There's a few spots off of Sawtelle and Olympic which are good to ok. Hurry Curry, Curry House, Sushi Mac, Asahi Ramen. And a ton of other places. Every time we visit L.A. now, it's tradition that we eat at Hurry Curry as our last meal before we take off. It's still ok, but ownership changed several years back so it's not the same.

UCLA may be dead, even with summer session going on. I know there are typically a lot of summer camps going on, but you'll be looking at mostly jail bait.

And for shopping, there are a ton: Beverly Center, Melrose, The Grove, 3rd Street Promenade, Rodeo Dr., and a ton of others. It's L.A., so shopping is all around.

UCLA is chill during the summer. Went to summer school at UCLA when i was in high school, but one my teachers wrote a letter of recommendation so I was able to take college courses and stay in "non-high school" dorms, which was Rieber Hall. I think it might be the same setup. I used to snake high school chicks from the "Discovery Program" over to the college dorms because we didnt have resstrictions for alcohol and such.

I still think its pretty busy at UCLA during summer...love the campus.

More evidence LA just flat out sucks.

From SB to OC should just die a thousand deaths.

Haha.. I actually laughed out loud when I read the thing about LA having better freeways too. I always said if I had to live down there for any length of time I would have to get a 4x4. And why does it smell like armpit down there all the time?

Used to be the same way when I was kooked up to NorCal for 18 years. Left to coolege and lived there for a long time, its not so bad. NorCal is the place for me, but I would love to live in Dana Point, La Jolla, Redondo Beach, even Santa Barbara.

As I got older at school, these freshman NorCali'ians pledging for for our fraternity would rep NorCal so hard and put down the whole SoCal area.

Never saw that happen with SoCal heads in NorCal. Even when partying in Isla Vista near UCSB, all the NorCal peeps would roll around bragging about cool home is and how good the bud was. I was like that too, so I just laugh.

But your wrong, and so was I back in the day.

SoCal has better herb available and it costs a little more. Reason is, its better because they are willing to pay more for quality, despite where its produced. NorCal is cheap with that **** and will take the plain old chronic because they want a deal. Never figured out why, just assumed living costs and such. I've seen the kush pushed up here, but its to kids making trips from SoCal and bringin it down.

NorCal is a more mature area and is great for older peeps. For colleges and younger cats, SoCal can be much more fun. Lots more **** to get into and stuff is open a lot later.

You just named a place in every county I said was ok to 'survive'. I don't dislike SoCal, just LA.

And where did the weed topic come from?

Well, we are in California.

I think the point here is one would be foolish to say there is better food, roads, etc in one place than the other because in most cases they have not experienced every road, restaurant and etc in either place. For me personally my favorite restaurants are in San Francisco and Hilo, HI respectively but since I have not eaten at every comparable place in LA, I would be an idiot to say that SF and Hilo have better food than LA. I like it much better here in MID*CAL than in SOCAL but that is just me and honestly, I wouldn't expect anyone else to care.
