That thing gotta hem-eh?

I went to Eggettes last night and as I got off the freeway onto Westborough I'm behind this junker of an old pickup. Some shaggy blonde and scruffy bearded white dude with thin rim glasses can't stop looking thru his side view mirror at my car with this dorky toothy grin. We head down Westborough for a bit towards El Camino and I'm just guessing he's got a WRX fetish (either that, or he has a panache for short hairy whiteguys) cuz he just won't stop glancing back every few seconds with that smile.

As we get maybe 1/5 of a mile or so from El Camino a space opens up in the right lane (we were in the left) and he doesn't take it. So I wait a few seconds, mirror check and I go to the right. No real accelleration, just moving up through the open space. And I start to notice he stays with me. As we're about 1/10 of a mile from El Camino his very laggy engine starts grumbling and I hit the gas maybe 1/2 way and boost a bit and shoot ahead before the power of his stupid truck matches the sound. I just didnt feel like getting cut off by a big ugly all-steel truck. As we're maybe 200 feet from El Camino this happenes again.

We get to the red light and I'm in the right lane to turn south on El Camino and this dork in his truck comes to a lunging stop, leans forward and to the right over his obviously embarrassed passenger and does some weird hand motion as to accentuate his well thought out and articulate sentence:

"Hey, dude, there's no replace for in.. uh..inches of d'displacement".

I look up at him, thinking "This guy is right out of those Dodge hemi-truck commercials" and said, "Sure there is, its called a 'turbo'." And I made my right turn with no fanfair.

About 50 feet down the road I regretted not thinking of this sooner. I should looked a him and said "Hey, that thing gotta hem-eh?"

My friend Jon, after hearing the story says, "The guy probabaly though you were in a Civic".
