Man dude that sucks... Sounds like when she hit you you hit the person in front of you? Make sure you state you could see there rear tires, and werent hugged up against them. This will help your side, as technically you rear ended the person in front of you. If your air bags deployed then you have a good case to prove she was going fast, and you were stopped.
Also seriously go to a doctor!!! Right away. I could care less about insurence and pain and suffering crap, but you may not feel you are injured, and it may only show up later. If you have health insurence pay the co pay and get yourself checked out. If it turns out you did strain something then you can get on top of it right away so you don't miss work etc. From the sounds of it she hit you hard if you scraped your leg on the dash!
Hope you get your car back in action soon.

Part of that I do not know, after driving the 5 miles before pulling over and deciding to get the tow instead, I sat there for an hour on the side of 880 with my hazard lights on and not a sindgle CHP drove by. Never know where those guys are.

I am sorry to hear about this.

Its messed up because I had my downpipe, springs, swaybar, and strut bar installed at Gruppe-S and within 5 minutes of being on the highway some dumba$$ lady started entering my lane. I honked my horns, Hella supertones FTW!!, and she turned out of my lane and then overcorrected. She was within 3 feet of hitting me two times. I got lucky, but was almost another accident.

What's the proper procedure when you know someone is going to hit you from the rear? I know when you're about to hit something head on you should let go of the steering wheel to prevent breaking your wrists.

But from the rear...

Do you attempt to brace yourself against your seatback?
Do you lean your head forward in order to prevent head trauma...?
What's the proper procedure?

I don't plan to get rearended but it would be nice to know how to react when you know it's gonna happen...
