Test your IQ...in several ways
Test your IQ...in several ways
http://www.emode.com/tests/uiq/
It only takes about 10 minutes, give it a shot.
Then I want to hear from the science types about what you made of the "choose the fruit that doesn't belong" and "choose the animal that doesn't belong" questions...

kangaroo. all other's a 4 legged. althought the kangaroo does have 4 legs, the upper are like what humans have, arms. so i picked that.
dang i had to remember pythagorean's theorem again.... ARGGGGGGGGGGGG
I chose coconut and mule, respectively. They're both wrong answers according to the test, but in reality (as partially explained above for the coconut), the test makers are simply not very knowledgeable or thorough.
Cool. We're getting a good mix of people here who are choosing the right answers for the right reasons (grape vine and bipedal kangaroos) and the exact wrong reasons (mule as hybrid, coconut as seed) that make this test a sham.
I actually ended up writing an email to emode about it:

Hi there emode,
I’m not a genius by any stretch, but I do think you guys screwed up a few questions in your “Original IQ Test.”
“Which doesn’t belong: coconut, grape, banana, apple, pear”
While your correct answer is grape (for what reason I have no idea), the coconut is the only choice that is not a “fruit.” It’s a seed, not a seed container or stem as the others are.
“Which doesn’t belong: kangaroo, mule, donkey, cow, deer”
Your correct answer is kangaroo (two legs? Marsupial vs. placental mammal?). However, the mule is the only “unnatural” animal out of all the choices – it is a hybrid between two discrete species (male donkey and female horse) and is naturally sterile. That’s a difference that is arguably greater than that for the kangaroo. In short, the answer choices are just too ambiguous to accurately assess anything from.
Also, the proverb/fortune cookie questions are too ambiguous. Sure, most people have heard of them and they do sound pithy when correct, but they are essentially idioms - the correct choices do not make sense when formal logic is applied, whereas some incorrect answer choices DO. This is a problem as it allows for multiple viable answers based on different criteria. As with the prior examples I’ve listed, you should make sure that the supposed incorrect answer choices are indeed incorrect.
Of course, I’m composing and sending this critique for my own edification, but I would certainly appreciate it if you could pass it on to whoever is responsible for the test contents.
Thank you,

I believe their testmakers are all humanities majors :/

Well, to prove that my IQ is significantly lower than poste d by their stupid test, I went "back" through most of page 2 and changed one answer and resubmitted to see if it affected my score. :P
Then I just did a search for "emode IQ test answer key" on google and some moron had paid them to get the key and then posted it on the net.

Rofl Yeah, Darren's the guy. What a tool :P
Btw, the test maxes out at 144.
And I forgot to mention the worst thing - IT'S NOT TIMED. How can you have an IQ test with math and logic without timing it?!
