On a semi-related note, I'm naming my son Nikola after Nikola Tesla (My grandpa and uncle are both Nikola too, cuz Tesla was by far the biggest influence in the 20 and 21st century... Shame more American's don't know who the hell he is... F' Edison!
This is why I think that Tesla was a highly appropriate name for the electric car company. They have made an awesome vehicle and demonstrated that, not only are electric cars viable, but they can be exciting.
There was an episode last season where they were reviewing cars in Albania. Bentley pulled out at the last minute, so they substituted a Yugo and reviewed that in lieu of the Bentley. Was that fair? No. Is TG a serious motor review program? No. It is entertainment.
If Tesla wanted a guaranteed good review, they should have given the car to Motor Trend who give good reviews on all cars.

Yup, Tesla was a true visionary. He had amazing dreams and turned many of them into reality.

the problem is that top gear DID lie, the car never ran out of charge and never had to be pushed, and they were forced to admit that. anything else they say about the fuses or brakes are also called into question once its already clear that theyve already lied
The most baffling thing is why they even felt the need to lie about it?? did they think it would be funny to ruin the reputation of an up and coming car company on the worlds biggest cars show just for what? the lulz??
Seriously that is just ****ing chicken **** right there.

The second point is that the figure of 55 miles came not from our heads, but from Tesla's boffins in California. They looked at the data from that car and calculated that, driven hard on our track, it would have a range of 55 miles.
Tesla claims we were lying when we said the brakes were "broken". They now say that all that had happened was that the fuse to the vacuum pump had failed, which meant that the brake just had to be pushed down much harder than usual.
Our primary reasoning behind the verdict had nothing to do with how the Tesla performed; our conclusion was based primarily on the fact that it costs three times more than the petrol sports car upon which it's based, and it takes a long time to recharge; you can't use it as easily as a petrol sports car for the carefree motoring journeys that are a prerequisite of sports car driving. You can actually reach conclusions based on them without driving the car. As it happens, when it did come to the subjective area of how the car drove on the track, we were full of praise for its performance and handling
