Tesla Model S Event

Anybody else here at the Tesla (old Nummi) factory in Fremont? They're "unveiling" their Model S which looks like their luxury edition in their fleet.

I have to admit, it's my first time stepping foot on the factory grounds. It's hard to believe that this space used to employ so many people at one point, but it's also cool to see somebody else (Tesla motors) pick it up for their own production.

I'll upload my crappy cell pics later

I like how they look and the 300 mile Model S would be pretty cool. You would only have to charge it once a week or so.

Still I don't think electric cars are going to very popular. At least not for quite a while.

It looks like they are in production, but the mock machines are used for the display.

Is this a one time event only? or is that presentation a daily thing where anybody can check out like a museum? I would like to check out there facility one of these days.

It's not up and running so there's not a lot to see just yet. I don't know if they will offer tours like Toyota did.

It was by invite only I believe as security was checking for badges/ID. I have a family member who works for Tesla and I was brought in as a guest.

It wasn't so much a museum as it was a house warming party. There were a few prototypes on display and some machinery. I'm hoping they have a tour-type deal too, once they get settled in.

I went today. Nice event... HUGE turnout so they had to cram 4 people + factory driver in the ModelS for the test ride. Clean facility and I was pretty amazed at how much freedom they gave everyone to roam around.

There were moving chassis suspended in the air that could whack someone in the head. Luckily people there seemed to have enough common sense to be on the lookout.
