Da Wei on El Camino in Santa Clara is known for world class portrait tattoos. For a basic piece it's probably too expensive though.

i heard somewhere in san jose is a japanese guy named taka that does "yakuza style" full bodied tatoo's etc... cant say i know his contact or anything but, i believe he may have a website on the internet somewhere.
yeah, i know, sorry this isn't much help... but if I were to get a tattoo I would try to get one by this guy. Those full body/ semi body tattoo's from these japan are just sick looking and high quality

+1 for Staricase in SC
and another +1 for F-U.
I've had work done at Staircase by Teresa and one of my buddies has a SWEET back mural done by Hudge at F-U(couldn't believe how much freaking money he spent on that thing though)
My other work was done in Groton CT, Boston, and Brazil so that's no help to you

good guys. Orly has done a short sleve and my shouler. part of it was a repair on an old Tat the rest was stuff he either did freehand or pre drew for me. its all nice bu the free drawn is some of his best. his partners are all good too.
