Tape to cover wheel balance weights?

What kind of tape can I use for something like that? Will an HVAC aluminum foil (with adhesive on one side) from Home Depot work or I need to purchase some kind of special "aluminum race tape"?

Just want to be sure that balance weights have more chances to stay on wheel during AutoX and track.

That tape will work fine. I've got that crap all over my caddy. It holds up well.

It can tear pretty easily if you're trying to get it to wrap tightly around the weights so you may want to double it up. And it's not the easiest stuff in the world to remove once it's on there.

Thanks! I'll buy some HVAC aluminum tape with the highest temp rating I can find. I also just read that people are using Gorilla tape with success...

You'll probably be fine in autox without tape. The tape may help at a track, but that will depend on how hard you push there.

Yea you can just use that aluminum tape, make sure you get the whole area securely adhered. Race teams do that all the time. But I don't think you'll lose any weights in autox.

I was actually thinking this. Is it possible that it could screw with your wheel balance?

If you put just enough, it won't. GST never had a problem.

If you put enough of the tape on, you could throw the balance off. You're not going to put 1/8 of a roll of tape on each wheel right

Thanks for the info guys! I picked up this tape from HD:

Nashua Tape 324A 2-1/2 in. x 180 ft. Cold Weather Foil Tape-3240024500 at The Home Depot

Temp rating is pretty high.
