Talk about a bad day

Headin down 680 over to dynospot to get the ECU for my Integ fixed up and I was in the center lane cruisin in my new wrx followin a tahoe next thing i see this 6 foot piece of pipe fly up off the rear tires of the tahoe and its whirlin at me like a helicopter blade i look left and there is a car so i can't move away the pipe smacks my scoop rips it off and then smacks the right a pillar and then smashes the passenger mirror into the passenger window. lucky for me the pipe didnt come thru the windshield but now my car is messed up im so pissed.
less then 1000 miles and its gotta go to the body shop.
id like to kill the jerk who lost the pipe off his truck and didn't stop to pick it up or call the chp and have them do it.
if the car didnt have the scoop it may have come right thru the windshield and taken me out.

Doh! I should have read it more carefully. Report it to you insurance, you might not be liable. Sorry to hear though.

On a sidenote, how come American suv's and trucks(i.e. Chevy, Ford, Dodge) never have mud flaps? Japanese trucks and suvs always seem to have them come equipped. I try never to follow behind an suv or truck, especially american made. They suck.

Pretty sure mud flaps, fender flares are required if the tire sticks outside the stock opening.

if the pipe was completely airborne when it hit you, and not in contact with the ground, your insurance would consider this claim to be comprehensive.

Your comprehensive deductible is likely lower than for collision claims, and unlike collision claims, this would not raise your insurance premiums.

Road debris is often a special section of your policy, I think the dedcutible for this is usually like $50 - I've replaced two windshields using this.

yeah, just like AntiochCali said: this should be covered under a special section for Road Debris. If it's not, it depends on the insurance company if they want to raise your rates under collision or comp.

I used to have Farmers Insurance on a crappy convertible I owned and when the top got cut for some asshats to steal a janky stereo (it was like a Jensen or something that came when I got the car) I not only had to pay a $1000 deductable (didn't know tops costed that much and wasn't going to pay more for a lower deductable), but they wouldn't replace the cd player with a stock cd player (only stock tape/radio). Then the bastads tried raising my rate an extra $300/6 months. The total bill was only like $1500, of which I paid $1000, and they were trying to jack me that bad.

they need to crack down on these people hauling stuff in there trucks i see so many people with unsecured loads dropping stuff on the roads and nothing ever happens to them but then stuff like this happens to people like us... I shouldn't have to pay for that persons ignorance..... who ever lost that pipe should be fined bigtime.... if I knew who it was they would be paying for more then just that damages to my brandnew car.... im still pissed over this whole thing...........
