i think its always a good idea to bring chains..I will be doing so on my "tahoe trip" even though i have potenza RE960s.(high performance all weather tires)

summer tires in the snow are not very smart, buy aome stockers for $200 and you should be good.

04subiewrx just to let you guys know, you dont use chains on a subaru. you use cables. and you only need them in the front.

if you need to cable up your subaru...... they probably wont let you through on the roads anyways.

i got through a chain station in my subaru and was the ONLY car on the road from truckee to auburn.

i shouldnt have been driving, and they shouldnt have let me through!!!

it was just snowing WAY to hard to be on crappy tires

just a word of advice, bring some chains and I hope you can handle your car. I went up two weeks ago when it was snowing and I ended up getting stuck in the snow off of 80. Granted it was my dumbass that decided to go up on crappy tires, but just be careful. Even though we all have AWD it doesn't make us invisible. Other than that, have fun
