I've had many friends with audi's and VW's really unreliable cars in my opinion, I like BMW and Lexus aint bad either.

that's the other thing. i don't believe in taking on debt to own a car, especially one that i will mod eventually. each of my cars has been bought with cash -- one check. i bought my WRX with my bonus from my last employer.

for me, moving up is the other way around -- to play with more toys, albeit more expensive and less practical. that is the very definition of a toy, isn't it? a ferrari would probably be the least practical of cars, yet we all lust for one.

so in regards to the topic of this thread, definitely switch to a luxury car...IF you don't incur debt along with the "trade-up." just keep the WRX around to mod and be designated as the less practical of the two cars! if anything, these cars are a hoot when used as glorified snowboard/bike carriers.

Yeah, it looks like there's two trains of thought on "moving up"... Some folks want to leave the wrx for something more "grown up" like a euro car.

I, however, used to really like bimmers, but have kinda outgrown the need for the "image"...... my next car might be a legacy.

The winner! What matters to me is how I feel in the car, not how others perceive me, that's why I'm rocking my Forester XT with a smile! On the other hand, BMW is all about the image. It strikes me that if BMW rebadged the Yugo and sold it for $50k there would be a waiting list to get the first one. That said if you want a BMW because you enjoy driving it, then by all means get one. Just don't get one if you are buying it to conform to your Audi and BMW owning friends.

My $.02 worth.
