Glad your car is running ok now! That could have cost u a lot of money! Some things to think about.
1. You have no need for a cold air intake if you ate on stock turbo at all. Stock airbox is great!
2. If for some reason you keep the CAI on the car and u do go throughout a deep puddle lay off the gas so water can't get sucked into the engine.

lucky the engine didnt throw a rod or something worse.
have seen pixs of 4wds when they sucked in water and since water doesnt compress like air+fuel, something has to do.
pixs of connecting rod going through the side of engine or after taking engine apart, bent rods:

The Subaru air intake (as far as I know) was designed to handle a bit of water since FHI knows we WILL do some crazy stuff
As for CEL turning on and engine not running well, happened to me before. I drove through a deep puddle at speed (about 30-40MPH) and then the CEL turned on. Idle got rough, power was way down, and then it couldn't move anymore.
Next day, shop I took it to tells me that air filter was wet and the MAF probably got wet. Dry both up and it runs like nothing happened.
But, is this a Honda you're talking about or a Subaru?

I think the only way your gonna hydrolock your motor with all the stock intake tubing, snorkus, and box is if you put your car in a lake like the infamous bugatti veyron. But then you have larger fish to fry, pun intended
