I thought that type 25 starts from a spec C 04 STi with the addition of a USDM shortblock and lots of suspension goodies.(I see a steering ratio of 13:1) For a nice price of like $45k plus.

It is a aftermarket exersise. With money any car can be made fast.
I have heard that the componets will be available in the US.

Didn't Motortrend test the MR and the 05 STi? They had one second diff in the track. (which is an eternity in racing). I think that the cars would have been closer with a set of pinks and the larger 235 tires that are standard in the Japanese STi).

The majority of the improvements are already in the 05 STi. But we still miss a few like the springs, bigger tires and the quick ratio steering.

the spec C as it is, was rated by a british car mag over the 911 GT3 and BMW M3 CSL, and I think that's pretty impressive.

The CSL was very limited issue, was still chunky after all the expensive stuff BMW did to make it lighter (including a CF roof) , and was bested by a Subaru...nice.

.

remember only a couple years ago we had no evo mr,evo rs, evo 8, sti or even wrx. logically this will be the platform they will use... they already have it in production

Why? the usdm sti is a 2.5

yeah the 2 liter wouldn't be all that cool if they built the 2.5 in the same way....

You guys would seriously have the ej207 over the 257? Even with a 2500+ dollar price difference (ok I dunno how much a 207 shortblock is new so don't take my word for it) taken into account (Last I heard, that'll pay for forged rods, pistons, some ARP head studs, sleeving, and some basic headwork to rev more than the 207 longblock, provided you DIY)

I tend to find the people that cry about the 257 are people that dont actualy have one
It would be foolish for Subaru to sell an STI with a 2.0 when the one flavor of 2.5 STI out sells all versions of the EVO here in the U.S.

I wouldnt necessarily say "better", since the EVO can make alot more power on the stock bottom end than the US STI. Though if I was only going to run 91 octane I would much rather have a properly tuned 2.5 than a 2.0

yeah....which totally confuses me.

Seems that it would be more popular than a forester STi.

I see a hell of a lot more modded wrx wagons that forester wagons...even with the sweet XT available.
