Subaru needs to step up...

All we need is carbon roof, even better bigger brakes, full array of bolt on things like strut bars and chasis bracing bars, 350hp, 8k redline less than 3200lbs, track day goodies like harness, safety equip, neat shades of paint. That being said I think a new sti modded to my taste would be amazing.
I think the power is fine but over the past 10 years you'd think they'd be able to get better MPG out of the same amount of HP. Personally, I'd rather see Subaru work on the MPG with the same 300ish HP. Maybe lose 3-400 lbs? That would be a much better direction to head IMHO as fuel economy is playing a large part in people's decision making these days. Losing weight would also make the car faster without adding any HP. Win win?

All the complaining about horsepower, I have yet to want for more of it. I have yet to out drive my car but that's just me. Its not a muscle car.
Apparently martinis make me say "I have yet" a lot.

If the STi is already knocking on $40K, how much do you think those items will add to the already hefty bottom line?

I don't think the sti is needed for the street and that somehow you can magically use 300hp perfectly on the street.
I think people underestimate the feeling of torque. I've never modified my med turbo sti because I wanted my car to be fast, I've done it because I like the feeling of power and torque. The sti has always been down this path. 300hp in the sti is no more usable than 380hp imo.
It scares me that so many of you want the 300hp because it tells me you haven't seen the difference between a stock sti and a tuned stage 2. Yes i'll go as far as saying neone thinking a stock sti is in anyway better or advantageous to a stage 2 (tbe+tune) you are flat out wrong. You are missing out big time as the car is made better 10 fold in everyway and with the increased power is still far easier to use the power on the street and especially the corners due to the increased low end and spool.
