hey guys i remember that when the sti first came out there was some concerns with pinging while under boost. can anyone tell me what subaru did to fix this or if its covered under any warantee? thanx guys

For my buddy's '04 STi they replaced the ECU.

 

They reflashed all of the cars. The new ones are already pre-re-flashed... heheh.

If you had one of the first STi out there... might wanna take it to the dealer to have them take care of that for you.

 

eventually i'll get mine reflashed. did notice a couple times pinging around 3-4000 rpm and having a mild to big load...

got mine in june 03...

used to be it took a week or 2 to reflash...

 

I just had my '04 STi reflashed by the dealer, it took them 3 business days, and where the car used to ping like crazy from 3800-5000rpms, it now only pings 1-2 times if it even does.

What sucks is the car is noticeably slower now, so when I can afford to do it, I will have it EcuTek'd and dyno tuned.
