If you go to an STi scoop on a stock IC the bellows will not seal and you will end up with a worse effect than with the stock scoop. Instead of having air pressure behind it you will have air leaking everywhere and more than likely lower the efficiency of the IC.

Yes it does fit though.
True to word about having relation to it. But I wanted to make it look more aggressive and find out if I would need the air splitter because I don't plan on keepin the stock turbo/IC.

I was actually looking into gettin an vf39 setup as opposed to the vf34 setup. Cheaper way to get get about the same power for less money. And I wasn't planning on keeping the stock IC, as mentioned before.

And I just wanted to throw those numbers out there for the hell of it. =D

yes, a used vf-34 may be just as expensive, but you forget the em, fp, injectors, and other supporting mods that you'd have to include to run a 34. A new AP runs for $600, walbro fuel pump is 80, and injectors around 300. that's almost 1k right there there plus the 300 for a used turbo, vs the 250 you'd throw into a scoop and splitter.

Also, isn't the STi scoop just taller than the stock scoop? If so, why would it leak? I eventually plan to get a splitter due to better spread, but if it leaks as bad as you say it does, maybe I should get it sooner.

When I said scoop I consider the scoop, splitter and bellows as part of the package. As far as a VF34 package, I was talking VF34 versus getting the scoop and a good IC, which is about the same $$ because to take advantage of the IC to it's fullest some EM is needed as well. I figured he already had some sort of EM due to posting 212hp.

You can use the stock splitter with the STi scoop but it looks horrid, the splitter is way small and the inside of the scoop is ugly. Also thinking of aero dynamics with the stock spliiter inside the sti scoop, you would draw air in, the splitter would divert some to the IC and some would head towards the back of the scoop, then bounce back towards the entrance of the scoop and create a pressure barrier, more than likely severely hurting the flow. If you upgrade the scoop, splitter and bellows while still having the stock IC there is about a 3" hole on the passengers side that will be the path of least resistance, and the air will tend to flow over to that side, again hurting flow over the IC.

It does look good, but if looking for performance I'd rather head the route of a bigger turbo than an upgraded scoop and IC first. Different strokes for different folks though. I was surprised how little the actual gains were going to a big TMIC, but then the true power came though because it NEVER heatsoaks now. Big IC, Big nostril, and a big snail make me a happy person, well except for when I go the the gas station, that makes me very sad, although the addiction never ends, I've been bored with the PE1820 and was ready to do a 2.5 block, some cams, and step up to a big turbo but some family problems came up, now I'm almost ready to pull the trigger again. Now that should be fun, 400whp wagon woohoo.

You can use the STi scoop with the stock splitter.

If you have the stock intercooler, you dont need a new splitter.

Personally, I think an upgraded TMIC on the stock turbo is a great upgrade (assuming you have up/dp/reflash)

No, it doesnt have the topend of a vf34 setup but it is VERY torquey

Find the best deal you can on a big one, I have the TurboXS. APS and Spearco are popular too.

You can take a gamble on the Ebay ic...Ive read that fitment and quality is hit or miss. I wouldnt bother with the STi one unless you get it for SUPER cheap.
