starter racing schools for young kids
Hey guys, my son has been showing more interest in driving and cars recently. Just his power wheels for now
, but it got me thinking about schools for when he gets a little older. Any recommendations for race schools for young kids out in this area? I know there were a few back home where I grew up that started them out pretty young. Any in the Bay Area that you guys have tried or would recommend?
I was looking around on the internet and found this one link
Thanks

MY coworker said she did racekarts inc when she was a kid, she said if you know you want to go ahead with it, she may be able to get a good price for a 2 day event.

Thanks man, I took a look at their website. It looks like their age group is for older kids 13+. Im thinking younger, like around 5 or 6 in age.
Funny thing I just found out. Jeff Gordon got started at that track I listed at the top at age 5. Didnt realize he was from the area. Pretty cool.

She said she will ask the owner and see because last time she was an instructor there they had a 4+ age range.

I would like to get a Power Wheels - are there good or bad ones? I will probably need to paint it WRB. Can they drive on sand and grass and stuff?
Lisa at Race Karts Inc. is awesome and the track they use is really simple to learn and remember. I've taken classes with them. Got spanked multiple times by kids.
Shoot her an email.

That's pretty sweet! I want to get my kids into that too if possible. I raced with Tulare County Kart Club out in Visalia many years ago and it was a blast. There were lots of different groups for kids and I am sure there were some that were that young there. It was the same, meth karts on hard-pack dirt. Basic Briggs motors though they did have a 2-stroke class.

I also have a racing sim setup hooked up to my computer with a force feedback wheel that he loves to play also. Hes actually really good at it, which is funny to watch considering how much better he can drive then my wife, LOL.
He will be 3 next month and i'm just thinking of the next step for him. Sounds like he has a year or two before he can get into karting or the quarter midget cars. They look awesome though and it looks like the way to go. He spends alot of time with my at the tracks and sees me working on my cars so I think its rubbing off.
Thanks for the recommendations. There wasnt much organized stuff for kids where I grew up in Louisiana. We would race go karts on our property where we cut tracks into our tall fields with tractors, but it definitely wasn't official, lol. Seems like there's alot more organized stuff here which will be great for my son if he stays interested in it.
We got my sons from ToysRus since they put they have a bunch on display to sit in. Some the pedals are harder to reach then others and some are faster. He ended up sitting in a jeep one and that was his favorite so we got him that on his 2nd bday last year. It had a screw that governed the speed down, that we removed after a while. It moves pretty good through grass and hills at the park. Plenty of power. He spins the tires pretty easy and I have thought about putting some better grip on them.

If you have any issues. I can always have my coworker give her a call since they know each other.
