Saw this one last week: guy in import econobox, 2nd lane from right on 4-lane HWY. Decides at *start* of offramp that he needs to make it. Comes to essentially a dead stop to wait for traffic in slow lane to clear so he can basically make a right hand turn to offramp. Poor SOB directly behind him locks 'em up to avoid d-bag. All very lucky traffic was light... good lawd.

Now you are just being silly. Obviously you don't throw batteries (or anything else) at people on the road. At that point you would just be a crazy person randomly attacking someone, as they would have no idea why you were doing that.

I'm sure most of the people that are merging at 30-40mph when nominal traffic is going highway speed are just oblivious and/or stupid. So, you coming out of "nowhere" throwing stuff at them really is just another form of ignorant rage, and the "point" would obviously not get across. There is no possible way that the person would go "oh gee that is probably because I just did _____" because they probably do not even have any idea what they are doing.

But, it's very common for someone to think that any and everything someone else does on the road is pointedly aimed at them specifically........

He's trying to suggest that he would throw large batteries at drivers who did not take the earlier penny attack as some sort of lesson.

Yep, the most I ever do is a thumbs-down. The thing is, no one seems to realize that there is literally NOTHING you can do to get your point across or "teach someone a lesson" in most cases in these situations. Waving your arms, shouting, hand gestures - all of that is just seen as a threat and will be met with escalation. It truly does not matter - the only thing you can possibly do is escalate, and if you come across someone who has less to lose than you do, well, you lose no matter how big your truck or your talk is.

Throwing stuff out of your car? Heh, well, try it a few times, see what happens. Maybe things are different here but growing up where I did, you never know if you are dealing with an old granny who just can't see or some meth head who will follow you to your destination and stab you in the face just because you made them mad. Sure, they might get in trouble, but you would still be stabbed.

If I take the backroad into Newark there's a dark purple(?) ScionTC, a gold Acura MDX, and a silver Cadillac, all three of these fools like to cut and dice up traffic, always illegally going from Paseo Padre over 84 into Thornton and going right onto Willow. Last week the Acura and Cadillac cut right into my and another driver's path to cut us off last minute to take the right onto Wilow. Stupid, lemme see, a couple of 5000lb trucks versus your little cars? Stupidest thing of all, they all work within those 3 complexes right there at Willow and Central. The last incident was perfect though because I decided to push back defensively a little bit since I was in the truck. We'll see soon enough if the lesson was learned by the Acura and Cadillac because they didn't realize who else was in the truck with me at the time telling me to "push back" while a camera was rolling.

ROFL, "..bro, I got the plates too. " was music to my ears!

Watch out if you use the same corridor, all 3 guys act like they've nothing to lose and YOU ARE THE PROBLEM, not them.

Me, I can change up my route and use any of 4 choices and will do that to avoid these idiots. Worst case if I do have to take the route I use my new cam. I know the Scion comes from Fremont, I think the Acura is possibly Fremont and the Cadillac is coming from S/B 880-W/B 84. Either way the drivers are pure chumps in how they act towards the rest of us normal folk.

-people hitting their brakes on the freeway for no apparent reason

-in heavy traffic on the freeway, people that stop with everyone, wait, realize that traffic has begun moving ahead of them, floor it, and then have to stomp on the brakes because traffic is stopping again... I just try to roll at a constant speed to keep up

-when people pull into parking spots at 10000 mph and slam on the brakes to stop

-teenage girls driving Audi A7s, Teslas, new Mercedes, etc and have literally no idea how their car works or the what rules of the road are, and couldnt give two ****s either

I have noticed that a lot of people will speed up if your next to them or slow down if your behind them. Im not sure if people are know they are doing this. It happens all the time. If you have never noticed, try it out. If you want someone to speed up but don't care to pass. move from behind them to next to them, 60%ish of the time they will speed up.

And when your coming up on someone at a stop light right when it turns green, they stare at you from the rear view and don't hit the gas, they just sit there.

people that won't move over if there is space and your moving faster.

Im know there is more but it's all I can think of

Biggest pet peeve of all is when I’m coming up to a green light at an intersection, car comes up to a red light on the right, looks directly at me.. continues to make the right in front of me slow as a mother f*****. especially bad if i have an open lane next to me and they prefer to merge into my lane instead. that’s about the only time i will get as close to your bumper as i humanely can..

Still totally agree, and still deal with this every day. Last week, I saw a tractor-trailer nearly drive through a Camry on full air-horn blast. The week before that, I swore I was going to see a huge collision as a full size Dodge came through the sea of merge-tards at around a 30mph speed differential. Surprisingly there was no collision, but, lots and lots of swerving.

Today, I was merging onto a local freeway, behind a fellow that was doing so at around 35mph. I sped up a little, apparently got too close, and he brake checked me 2x. I was able to decline his offering for a collision and get around him, and then I saw him flipping me off and his mouth seemed large. He then got out his phone and stuck it to his head as he was behind me the rest of the time, ostensibly reporting me for whatever he could think of.

After a couple miles I thought to myself, eff this, and pulled off onto the shoulder up against the curb, with hazards on, to call non-emergency and talk to them, see what they said (I have never done this, thought - hey I'll give it a shot). As I was on the side of the highway, CHP pulled over someone right behind me. I thought it may potentially be foolish to signal and get back onto the freeway, so I just sat in my car and waited, thinking he would come talk to me. He did, and he basically reinforced every nasty thing I have heard about a CHP officer. I explained what happened, as neutrally as possible, with him interrupting me to accuse me of wrong-doing several times. He mentioned that it was illegal for me to be there if I am not in the middle of an emergency and he could cite me for this (he's right, my bad).

He basically said that I was probably tailgating the guy and that is probably why he did that. He said that merging onto the freeway at 35mph was not dangerous, and it's up to who-ever is merging to do so however they like, and the person following just needs to give them as much room as possible. I mentioned that I learned about "acceleration lanes" and "speed differential" from CHP directly, and his own department has identified speed differential as one of the most dangerous things one can do on the road way, and that was why I was talking to him. He stopped short, said it was a waste of time talking to me since I just wanted to argue, and said something about how he was going to watch to see how well I merged back onto the freeway.

Not sure what he thought I wanted I guess. I was annoyed by the driver being stupid/dangerous and then following that up by breaking the laws and being more dangerous. Obviously I did not expect the officer to go chasing after someone after hearing my one-sided story. I guess this should not be surprising, but, it reinforces a bunch of things and none of them are good.

Basically I just had a CHP officer explain to me that I am an idiot for following the rules, and thinking that others should do as well. Everything I say will be ignorantly turned around and used against me. Yay for learning!

Driving is pretty crazy these days. I went for a drive last Sunday with my wife and kids, and we saw 2 vehicles overturned (one was on it's side), watched a collision happen, saw the cleanup of where it looked like at least 3 or so people used the HWY280N to HWY85S off ramp as a jump, and finally saw someone who took the turn from 280N to 92E badly and ended up halfway down the bank on the off-ramp from 280S to 92E. This was around an hour of driving. Watch yourselves out there, try not to let anyone cause you an accident, and remember, never talk to CHP/police.

I had a conversation with my mother about her driving habits and how she speeds and doesn't use her blinkers. Her response?

"I don't want people to know where I'm going. It's none of their business,"

I am astonished that she hasn't been in any accidents. That said, if you see a black Infinity FX45 or a copper/burnt orange 350Z convertible in and around San Jose, steer clear!
