Whatever you do, make sure you don't have any failure to pay or failures to appear. They bite you in the @$$ in the long run. Just go into court, plead guilty and ask the judge what options you have other than paying the fine, he will tell you.

If you got tagged speeding and the cop did not use radar, challenge the officers patrol car for speedometer accuracy.
If the officer cannot produce a recent/valid card that states accurately calibrated (the speedo). Then the judge will dismiss the ticket.

You can fight it. Or you can go plead guilty and tell them you're poor. In a smaller country, (like Yolo), they might cut the fee in half to 1/3 like they did for me.
So I thought I was really smart, so when my wife got a ticket in Sac County we went to court and said we were poor starving students, etc. They said..."See the bailiff for payment plan options, NEXT!!!"
I'd just fight it if you're poor...see www.ticketassassin.com

He said that he was poor, and had a bad back. They gave him some easy job of cleaning up a park. He even postponed it a couple of times. I guess it depends on where you recieved the ticket, and how hard ars the judge is. Good luck ,and don't let the bastards get you down!
