Speed(MPH) at a certain RPM

Anyone have a link or know how I can figure out speed (MPH) at a certain rpm in a certain gear. This is for a stock geared WRX. Thanks!

yea, go out on the freeway, and put your car into the desired gear, take it up to the desired RPM, and look at your spedo.......

my recommendation for speeds in excess of 100 mph, do this late at night on a deserted stretch of the freeway, so as not to endanger anyone else on the roads.

If you need speeds above 100 try multiplication. It is like addition, but you usually end up adding more than once.

If you are at 3000 RPM at 75 miles/hour, then you would be at 6000 RPM at 150 miles/hour.

The longer answer is to find out the WRX gear ratios and the diameter of your tires and work it out.

This is not for street purposes. I am thinking of running the Silver State Classic in the next two years and just needed to know what speeds in what gears the WRX is capable of.

Dumb question... why do you need to know that?

So that I can see what classes I am eligible for. Like say if you choose the 135mph class you are going 135 for 90 miles but when you hit the turns you obviously have to slow down and to average 135 you need to make up for the turns in the straights. Soo it helps to know how fast you can go in this case it's 4th and 5th I am concerned with. Hope this helps. Maybe if you read up on the event some more it will explain it better than me. It's a really fun event with all kinds of cars competing.

you'll probably want a GPS system , seeing how any stock speedometer is fairly inaccurate.

GPS is way too crude for open road racing ala Silverstate Classic.
Its a great tool for getting a calibration factor, but there are far too many variables to make it any use as a primary device for these events, they get won by fractions of a second.

I would also highly reccomend the MKM organization; www.openroadracing.com, more events, different venues, better safety and communication, some better roads and Tim Jones' gas powered margarita blender are but a few of the things that you won't see at the Silver state races.
