Can anyone help with some question's here,
-What if a car is out of state with no title, do I have any hopes of getting it registered here, with a bill of sale etc.???
-Is it better just to try and find one that'd been no'oped or is currently registered, with registering it as the goal. How much work this really be? like putting on stock exhaust, intake?
thanks, just trying to do all my research here.

out of state, with no title..
The Miata would go thru state ref.. As the way it sits, seriously what do you think?
Or, just buy it as a track car, and trailer it everywhere...

Well I did some reading and this page said you had to take it to a CHP INSPECTION, that took about 6 weeks to get.
However the guy said if it was a newer car, they only check the lights and if u can smog is proof enuff of the mechanicals. The only problem here I see is a roll cage, and possibly not factory belt mounting points, not sure how hard that is to reinstall. As far as the motor etc, it's simply catless/cai. Hell right now my car is catless and externally gated to atmos
I don't want to get a trailer, as definitely not right off the bat, thats the aspects of racing old ****boxes with stock powered engines that appeal to me.
I take it a non op vehicle with a title only requires a smog and fees to be payed, but no real inspection.

Agree wholeheartedly on buying a car someone else built, as long as it's not a pile and has reasonable safety gear. Will save you thousands in time and money.
Also, I know you're anti-trailer, but taking any car to a track without a backup plan if you wreck or have a mechanical (happens on 20 year old cars) is a bad idea. AAA is *not* a backup plan
I wouldn't engage in anything wheel to wheel until I could afford two things: a tow rig/trailer, and the ability to walk away from a totalled car. I know you're not going out to try to win the championship, but red mist (or someone else's red mist) is going to remove the option to "just take it easy and save the car" all the time.
