Any of you guys running sound bars for your TV set ups?

I don't want to run a crazy stereo system. I've got hardwood floors so I don't want the wires.

So I've been looking at 2/1 sound bars with wi/fi subs and the ability to connect to any device through blue tooth... i.e. phones.

I like the looks of the samsung ones... especially the new one. Anyone have experience with these things?

I'm still setting up my living room so I'm trying to figure out if my tv is going on a wall mount or on a media console. I'm leaning towards the wall with a smaller media console under it. I'll push the wires through the wall and plug everything in in the closet behind it. And have all the devices plug in behind the media console with the hdmi cables pushing through the wall. No visible wires. I'm ****.
I have a Yamaha sound bar that I've been using for the past 5-6 years or so and absolutely love it. The one that I have does not have bluetooth but does have aux inputs and I have a headphone-> RCA cable running out of it when I want to play music. If you do not want to run wires, a soundbar is the way to go. just my 0.02

You can get away with a very simple 2.1 or 3.1 setup and it really does work. Better than any soundbar I've ever heard too, but requires a bit more gear. I'd definitely take a good 2.1 setup over a lesser system as well.

I will also take wires over appearance every time. Simple, effective and really don't tend to get in the way realistically.
We can talk shop next time I head out... probably tomorrow night.

I'll try and snap pictures tonight. I'm new to all this stuff because it's been a LONG time since I upgraded. I used to have a pretty sweet set up but that was another life ago and a lot of technology ago.

Find me when you come in, I'll take care of you.

We likely won't go 105D. Possible, but right now its not even on the radar.

I have the Sony htct 260. I'm really happy with the set-up and have had no interference issues with my wifi network. I know you can switch which 5ghz channel is operates on, as well.

I don't use a sound bar, they sound like crap IMHO.

Rather I put in a Sony Elite 7.1 receiver, Ive got a infinity gold series center channel, infinity 7 series front speakers, Image dynamic 3 series rears, Sony elite series centers, and a huge CV 12" 500w sub.

All told, I have only about $1500 into it, picking up things on sale and closeout and craigslist.

I don't think he is looking for a bulky component system. We all know a full component system with nice large speakers will sound the best as size really does matter when it comes to speakers.

Also I thought infinity made car audio speakers

Infinity makes some decent basic home stuff, but there's a LOT of competition in that segment and better offerings for the same price. They haven't really made their higher end stuff since being acquired by Harman.

This one is pretty expensive, but it also gives probably the most flexibility for the sub. It is small enough to be slid under the couch, table, etc... or can be mounted to the wall.

The Yamaha soundbars are probably some of the best reviewed ones right now, but they aren't entirely that inexpensive.

Infinity makes some nice mid range home audio stuff. I believe they started there.

But yeah... no big bulky system for me. I used to have a KILLER one. All Harmon Kardon with some O.G. speakers that sounded amazing. Mishmash of stuff I put together based on sound. Had a couple Cerwin Vega's for the mains. And you don't know huge subwoofer until you saw the one I had attached to my system... it's still in my garage. I don't know what to do with it.

I'm looking for something simple and clean sounding... decent sounding. Not expecting the world since I can't do 5/1 or 7/1 right now. Maybe down the road and we'll move this into the bedroom... but for now I'm looking for simple, clean and functional.

That's a pretty sweet sub set up. Having it under the couch like that would be perfect for my house. I didn't read enough so I'll have to go back and check it out... wireless sub?

What about the speakers and amp I posted earlier? Could you do something like that? Just a 2.1 system?

EDIT: 2 speaker system, there is no .1 in the previous post.

Just looked at it now. Might be something that worked out. I could build the speakers in to the wall. Could always build a custom sub for under the couch.

Could be an interesting project.

no.

But I have an old version of it in my office... I used it on my tv at the old house. Better sounding than you'd think. Good for my office.

definitely can attest to this, I have listened some "out of the box" systems from a few buddies and theirs sounded not nearly as good as the Yamaha that I have, (model # YSP-1100)

As mentioned before, any full on component system will sound better than a sound bar but having 1 speaker sitting on a shelf is a much more simple, yet effective solution, for what I was looking for... which was less clutter and not having to run cables all over my house
