In Berkeley, I'd send you to Art's Automotive for service. Ask psoper, I believe he has experience there after I referred him to the place, since it's across the street from his work.

SOS Auto knows their **** but they tend to be a bit higher in price than other shops. Art's Automotive is great and I've got a bunch of Subaru folks to go there and they've had nothing but positive things to say about them.

I've been to both
...for routine stuff like oil changes and such, although I'd still go to LIC, GST, or EQ etc. for any performance mod type of work, but I don't have anything bad to say about either of the Berkeley shops.
SOS pretty much was my main shop on my Forester, back in the day Art's was just a Honda and Toyota shop, so I continued to take my WRX there after my warranty expired but before Art's started working on Subaru's.
But since they started working on Subaru's about 8 years ago, Art's is just across the street from my office, so I haven't been to SOS in quite a while, although I think they might still have a picture of my Forester from the 2000 Alcan winter rally in their office.

Been to Art's. Been happy with their service.
They could have charged more and done more work than necessary, but were very upfront and explained the service and why. Excellent work IMO.
