You're confusing it with calcium absorption. That's why a lot of our milk supply is fortified with vitamin D.

too bad this might be late but ive had excellent luck gargling orange juice. Like, gargle or let it "sit" on the sore part if u can make ur tongue hold it there.

Glad to hear that. Since you are able to type/text in recovery, your surgery must went very smoothly. Extubated right after surgery as well? Good for you. Yeah, pain is main issue for most spine surgeries. Sometime, pain management can be very difficult for spin surgery patient due to their high tolerance to pain meds. Make sure to report your nurse/staff when you feel any type of numbness in your fingers or extremities. They will probably watch you for now, to make sure you don't develope compartment syndrome in your cord/nerves. Quick recovery. And take those colace with your pain meds, especially after surgery!

Thanks guys. Surgery went real good but it's not an easy surgery. I'm in some pain. About a four on the pain scale or something. My back is very sore and I'm so drugged up and sleepy but I was suppose to get up and walk but the PTs are taking forever. Thank you.

Remember to be careful not to cross that line in recovery. You want to push yourself as hard as you can without creating new injuries. Your body will tell you when to stop.

4/10 is not bad on the pain scale for what you went thru. Good news is I guess your throat doesn't hurt now with all those narcs on board. To a speedy recovery.

Ahhhh pain has gotten a lot worst and I've threw up a couple of times. I can't really sleep well eihout being in pain. Pain is easily a 7-8 even with pain meds. The bad news isv I need revision surgery tomorrow because the rods arent placed perfectly and they will just realligned them. This sucks but w/e I guess still keep me in your prayers.

What is the recovery time/when you're ok to go to work again for a procedure like this?

I had my revisional surgery Today and man does it hurt. Easily a 9/10 pain after this surgery. I'm still dying and this is by far the hardest thing I've dealt with. It's intense. Very hard to move.

I hope you start feeling better soon! I don't know what pain killers you're on already, but you should see if they think fentanyl would help. I had a spinal tap a couple years ago and they gave me some before they did it, I didn't feel a thing! I realize your situation is like a spinal tap x 1 million, but when you're in as much pain as you are in I think anything is worth a try.
