All that vitamin C and crap just shortens the symptoms, it doesn't really get the virus out of your system any faster. Looks like you're going to have to wait till summer or risk complications.

Thanks giving me hope...They aren't going to straight up cancel surgery over sore throat, I don't have a fever, cold, flu, etc. Sore throat doesn't affect much, if they cancel, then that will be a big surprise. Which will suck.
worst comes to worst, the best killer of the germs which cause sore throat and/or the common cold is steam, so you could steam up some water and just let your head hang over it for a good 15 minutes. I know it sounds retarded, but it works!

I'll try to take some theraflu, vitamin c, gargle with salt water, and this steam. We called the hospital to ask a doctor if having this sore throat would affect much, we are still waiting for a call. I hope it's not a bad call, I don't need that right now, I want to get this surgery over with so bad.
Just a sore throat with no fever is a sign of Allergies(Post Nasal Drip). The weather has changed dramatically, Sunny 1 day, rain the next as we had the past few days. Pollen and Air Borne Dustmites love these days!...If you can't get your hands on a Netti Pot, How about some Saline Spray?..Also Tylenol will take care of it, and Some Sore throat drops!. Do not put any sory of Acid (Limes, OJuice, ) as it will irritate it...
Also if you have no Saline Spray..Take some luke warm water, and about 1/4 tsp of salt...Mix it up in a glass...and in each nostril drop about 3-4 drops from a spoon.

It's Anesthesia's call. I've worked with some that will put you to sleep even with a symptomatic URI and some that won't even if the lungs sound clear. Most of the times (especially with a breathing tube), they will proceed. Not much you can do at this point, take care of yourself, plenty of fluids and get a good nights rest. Good luck.

See ya guys!
Just relax. Small sore throat will not effect inserting ETT (Endotracheal Tube) for the surgery. Most likely, you will be given PCA (Patient Control Anthesia) with morphine or diluadid for your pain, if small boluses of as needed base pain shots don't help. Giving your age, you will be out of the hospital in no time. Don't worry about your sore throat, it will not complicate your surgery. You may even get IV antibiotics one before and after the surgery, which will decrease your chance of getting an infection. Just remember to relax.

Thanks for that but I guess it's not a small sore throat anymore. I woke up in the middle of the night because it hurts like crazy. By far the worst sore throat I had. I don't know why it had to happen on the day of surgery. I have the worst luck ever. Doesn't look like surgery is happening and I will wait till summer or something. Man this sucks.
I hope you start feeling better and get another surgery date SOON!

Hey guys I ended up getting surgery thank God. I'm in recovery right now and my back is hurting. But fifty three curve is around fifteen and I didn't need a blood transfusion. I'm AB+ which is a little rare. I need to restnow keep me in your prayers.

This is such good news, holy cow, what a reduction in curvature! 50+% to 15%!? That's FANTASTIC!!!
Just keep taking your pain pills to keep the pain down, today is the going to be the worst day of them all, so the worst part is pretty much behind you now.
I'm REALLY happy for you and I'm sure everyone else here shares the sentiment.
Major congrats and best of luck with your recovery!
Now all you have to worry about is keeping yourself busy with video games and TV! The hard part is over and you have a lot to look forward to now.
How long did the surgery take? How's the pain right now on a scale of 1-10?
I'm really happy that they didn't delay this due to your sore throat... It would have sucked to wait another few months to get this done. I hope you feel better soon and if you need anything feel free to let us know, we'd be more then happy to stop by your hospital room and give you company. That's what BAIC'ers are all about, helping one another (minus the few select who like to go out of their way to cause problems and make others feel like crap, overall that's not usually the case with BAIC though, we're usually good people. )
What time did you go under the knife and what time were you done?
I have a playstation PSP you can borrow with a bunch of games and movies if you're bored at the hospital and need some entertainment. Let me knwo and I can drop it off for you.
