Sore throat! Stat!
Guys, I have a big surgery tomorrow and it just happens to be my lucky day, I woke up with a sore throat today.
I can't be sick of the surgery will be postponed tomorrow and there are no more dates till summer.
Can anyone give me some tips for dealing with this?
Vitamin C- CHECK
Zinc Tablet- CHECK
MultiVitamin- CHECK
Lemon Juice- CHECK
Theraflu- CHECK
Gargling with Salt Water- CHECK
I'm a little paranoid, but are there ANY tips you guys know of that might help the sore throat?

Oh yeh! I forgot about that. I can't take a shot cause I can't have alcohol in my system for the surgery. But I can gargle that as well, it helps.

The worst day is going to be the first day after surgery, but you'll be so medicated that you wont even remember it or even know what's really going on. They will give you some really strong pain pills that will help you sleep as well as take the pain away, so keep that in mind. It's no 1874 anymore, it's 2010 (almost), we have such advanced methods of dealing with pain and fixing people that you have nothing to really worry about at all. You will be monitored in every single possible way and if anything is wrong prior to surgery they will NOT go through with the procedure... You only have a sore throat and I'm sure that stress has a lot to do with it.
You have a lot of people praying/rooting for you! You family will be right behind you, and although you don't know us too well, we're all right behind you too. You have a lot of people that care about you and you have some of the best surgeons in the world working on you, so take some solace in these words and know that you're in GREAT hands.
Standford medical center is one of the best damn facilities on the planet, and you're lucky enough to be admitted there. Nothing will go wrong and you'll be fine. You're a trooper, you're young and healthy in every other way (besides back), you have all the positives in your corner so don't worry man!
Everything is good and we're all right behind you man! Godspeed and get some rest!

I took the multivitamin which has 400IU of Vitamin D which is 100% of the daily value for Vit D. I took plenty of Vit C tablets, I didn't know they were 500mg's a pop. I took 4 so far, that is 2000mg, that is a lot. I will only take 1 more before I sleep to let my body actually absorb it instead of just **** it out.

Don't worry my friend, the Doctors will know exactly what to do and wont put you under if you're too sick for surgery. It's just a sore throat so I'm sure you'll be fine. You're under A LOT of stress right now and stress will def bring down your immune system. You're going to be ok and there's nothing to be worried about... You're already in a great deal of pain and all this surgery is going to do is make you better... You will have pain pills that will make you forget all about your pain so don't worry too much about it.

My best advice to give you is to immerse yourself in something you are really passionate about. When I get anxious from back pain (or before surgery/MRI/ETC) I hop onto youtube and start watching old clips of topgear, and other car related shows that I love dearly. It really helps relax the mind and allows you to forget about what you're anxious about.
Just use tonight to unwind and relax. You don't need to do ANYTHING at all, just remember that it will be your last day suffering from the back disorder. You will go through some pain after surgery, but it wont be THAT bad (it really wont, I'm not just saying that, especially with pain meds) especially compared to what you're used to right now. Look at tomorrow as a day of change... This is going to be a pivotal day in your life and will help you sooooo much. You life is going to be a lot better/easier and you'll be able to do all the things you've always wanted to do... All the normal things that you haven't been able to do before... Just imagine how great this will be!
Just imagine how much of an increase in self esteem you'll have! Just that alone is worth it.
Think of the positives and immerse yourself in some good video clips of topgear or the WRC! Get your mind off this stuff, there's no need to stress yourself out over this.

Yeah, don't use ANY blood thinners, so alcohol is a no go.

About watching something to relax, awesome. I will go play some video games with my bro or watch top gear/movies to relax. I won't worry anymore and I will just spend some time with my family and then take a nice warm shower and sleep for 8-9 hours. Sounds like a plan. I will be back in a couple of days guys! Pray for me tonight and tomorrow morning, again I really appreciate everything.

Yes I have allergies. I just checked up Post Nasal Drip and in the video the doctor said something about Acid Reflux that might be a sign to cause the build up in the back of your throat? Not sure how those two are similar, but I have heartburn pretty much daily, I'm pretty sure I have Acid Reflux or GERD. I usually get random sore throats like this, even if I'm not feeling sick. So that might be it. Is there anything else besides the Netti Pot that can work for "Post Nasal Drip"?

Yeah, no alcohol or smoking for me for the past months, I don't come near that stuff anymore.

Lol, definitely. I will have my iPhone/Laptop hopefully when I am bored or want to watch a movie or something and I will definitely post an update. Just don't worry if you don't hear from me in a couple of days, I probably won't even know how to turn on a laptop when I'm on so many pain meds lol.

Just did the Salt/Water, damn that burned. But it definitely helped. I still feel a minor sore throat, but no biggie. I hope it doesn't affect my surgery though. Have a great night ya'll, anymore tips, just add it and I'll come back to check the thread a couple of times before I sleep.
