seriously what if you just lived in a town full of boarded up, burnt out houses and huge abandoned factory's left to fall apart all over the street? Some parts of Detroit most must look almost like Beirut!
But hey, $100 houses!

That's incredible. Sad and incredible.
Did you notice the address of the first place? Hmmm...
Turning one of the old factories into a giant house would be freakin' sweet. The IX center in Ohio used to build planes and tanks for the war effort. Now it's a convention center with all types of creepy underground rooms and crazy things just hanging around. So cool. 1 million square feet of exploration rules.

LOL, Detroit, not a prob, could handle and hang with it. And these houses have been selling like this for a while.
Anyone ever been there?
Its like people who never step into Oakland because its "too ghetto" and you'll get shot/mugged/killed/raped/whatevers. Sure there are some really bad spots but the whole city is not straight up shoot em up and die status. This goes the same with Detroit.
Additionally, most of these spots are empty from people losing their homes. They mark them so cheap in hopes to stop squatters. This is a huge issue in Detroit, like many other cities, but mainly because these houses attract drug dealing, using, and thus crime! So whats happened is people have moved out of neighborhoods because of this; again leaving more empty houses which are usually over ran be people. Its a huge cycle thats been going on for years now.

There has been an effort to revitalize parts of downtown, my brother was managing a brewery/restaurant across the street from the OPera house, near the stadium. It was a nice place, sorta upscale. The buildings were old, but many of them had been cleaned up and restored and the oldness becomes cool. But then you have the ones that are boarded up dying a slow death.
One thing that struck me as almost odd at the time was how even in areas that were full of boarded up buildings, the streets were clean. The old building have what could almost be called a layer of soot on them, but the streets look like they get swept daily. It was kinda strange.
And my brother has been there almost 4 years now, and he's doing OK. In fact he made a point of saying how it's not as bad as year hear, he lived there for 3 whole years before he ever got stabbed. (actually he got hit with a box cutter).
