speaking of surgery, I have just been browsing evolutionm.net for the last few days b/c I might buy one....

...and realized that all things equal on a Mustang dyno the 10k or so I spent on my car in engine work to get 400whp on pump, would have gotten me 600whp on pump in an EVO with essentially the same spoolup/lag...

There's a guy at walnut creek Toyota with an evo that puts down 383whp on stock turbo running on E85 which is pump availible now and most of the time cheaper than 91

It really is sad, haha. But it's ok, I keep telling myself Subarus have more character. It's like dating a fat chick and telling yourself she has a great personality

I mean on the stock motor and small turbos, there's not not that much difference and the STI's got the better interior and daily driveability.

But on the built motor / "I-just-spent-$10k" level it's just night and day difference... night and day. NIGHT AND DAY.

We're talking about 590whp on a Mustang dyno with an FP Red on 91+meth. I don't think many STIs have ever done more than 400whp on 91+meth with that turbo. And you look at the torque curve and see the Evo has just as much midrange! Jesus...

Don't forget with the CT9A EVO's you get that nice cast iron block which will always be stronger than an aluminum block...

Get the EVO, stay on I-Club. Problem solved.

heh, that is true. Spend $25k and buy the 700whp pumpgas evo someone else already had to forgo a down payment on a house to build.

And what's the worst case, blow a motor/tranny? It's cheaper to replace a Buschur/AMS shortblock that all the 1000hp evo guys run, than to replace a stock STI motor. And that Shepherd transmission that is built to run 8 second passes sure as hell won't be stressed with a measely 700whp.
