It was way too early for me to be thinking straight. I really didn't think there was gonna be this much damage. Wasn't until I got out of the car that I damn near ****ted my pants.

You might want to remove that plastic piece that's still attached to your fender, otherwise it might fall off. It's used to hold your bumper onto the lower part of your fender. If you lose that while driving, it'll cost about $200 bucks from the factory..

You also should have taken it to a body shop for a quote before getting the insurance adjuster out. I can almost bet that'll cost more than $1685 to fix. I would say closer to $2500.

You should be able to replace the bumper yourself if you find the same color. If you need the fender fixed or your new bumper painted I'll give you a kick *** deal, just pm me.

Thanks, looking for a bumper now. Is there any warranty on the paint if I get it done by you?

Oh, and what piece are you talking about? The one near the foglight harness thing?

The paint, yes we do. And, as for the piece, look at your fender, it's the 12" long grid looking piece that holds your bumper onto the fender..

Well, talked to the adjuster and basically if the cone was moving towards me, it'd be comprehensive ($100 deductible) but if it was chilling on the freeway and I hit it, it'd be collision ($1k deductible). Oh, if anything is flying at you and hits you, it's comp.

My adjuster is going over my case with his supervisor to see if it's comp or collision. He's saying it'll probably be collision, that I'm at fault because I could've avoided the cone. But I told him, the cone was moving at me and was bouncing left and right, I guessed which way to move and guessed wrong.

They will call me tomorrow.

Update to come.

Should be a comprehensive loss, not collision (if the object was in motion or had just landed). Who is your insurer?

Edit: Just saw the OPs post above...definately call them on it if they try and call it collision.

I'm really hoping it'll be comprehensive but they were saying that even if it was moving, I should've been able to dodge it at 5am, hardly any lights on the freeway, with the damn cone bouncing left and right.

I'm with Esurance.

Wow, I had no idea they could do that. I'll be sure to ask tomorrow when I get the call.

Crossing fingers for the comprehensive though, $100 is much easier to cough up than $1000.

Uh...interesting, I've never heard of an insurance company doing that. I'll have to assume your explaining it oddly...

OP, I wouldn't ask that if I were you as they will prob think . Work on the getting them to classify it as comp instead of collision as you have a valid argument there, this deductible lowering stuff is odd and has questionable legality.
